Mortal Kombat 1 Premiere Tower discussion thread...

Damn, I guessed Reptile half-jokingly on another forum and it turns out to be correct.

That's pretty damn lazy. Expected, but lazy. Don't put in an achievement for that crap.

This game has not had a mystique about it since 1997.

Especially when we got Reptile as a secret fight in MK9.

Come on NetherRealm, what gives? I know the internet has somewhat ruined secrets but that doesnt mean you shouldnt put them in. Id love to see an MK game where a secret fight is an unknown, unplayable fighter like Reptile in MK1, Jade and Smoke in MK2. Does MKX really have not one single secret in it?

I was hoping that the characters would at least all be in their classic costumes even if they did not surprise us with a Shang Tsung partially complete fighter

After the holy hell people are raising about Rain, Sindel and Baraka, I can see why they wouldn't want to bother!
 
I don't understand the disappointment, it says MK1 tower, so we got the MK1 tower... yes, no Shang Tsung but that was to be expected since he's not in the game besides in an ending or two. And Reptile is the secret fighter because he was the secret fighter in the Original Mortal Kombat... You guys set yourselves up for disappointment by assuming things that Netherrealm Studios never even mentioned.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I ran through the tower as fast as I could, didn't get the Secret Fight. Again, I rushed it, so my score was low as hell (in the 400,000's), so your score may be a requirement to get the secret fight.


Now, I have Texas History class in the A.M so all I have to say is :goodnight:

Hey Phantom, I just ran through the new tower without losing a round and did fatalities on all my opponents and didn't get the secret fight. Could you shed any light on how you got the secret fight to activate? Also, when did the secret fight occur? Before the Test Your Might, After Goro? Thanks in advance. :)

To be fair, people have the right to be disappointed by the secret fight. When the achievements were leaked and one of them was "find the secret fight" people assumed that it would be something new and something exciting. The fact that it was just Reptile again is extremely disappointing. There isnt a single secret in MKX so far and people were holding out hope that the secret fight would be it. Sadly, its not.

What are they gonna do when the MK2 tower comes around? Make Mournful Kitana the secret fight?

Edit: checking out the tower now. Incredibly lame that you can do it with any character. Should have limited it to only MK1 characters

Jesus, some of you guys tend find the most ridiculous things to complain about, and set these weird expectations. If they hadn't made Reptile the secret fight, a lot of you would be complaining that it wasn't really representative of MK1. Who the hell cares that you can be D'Vorah? If you wanna pick an MK1 character for the tower, that's your prerogative. Is it really that big of a deal that people need to get upset over it? And hoping that all of the characters would be in classic costumes? Really? You don't understand that even skins take weeks to complete and have to go through testing as well. They're not gonna go through all that work for a one week novelty tower when they literally just spent two years tirelessly working on the game.

Anyways, I beat the tower right after it came up, but didn't get the secret fight yet. Will probably hunt for it when I jump back off after my controller charges a bit.

I was landing loads of 31% combos into brutalities with Cassie. Maybe you need a high score and brutalities give you the most points out of all the finishers.
 
I also just ran through the tower, but only finished with a silver rating, completely messing up one fatality. I didn't encounter Reptile either.

At what point in the tower did you verse him Phantom?
 
After I finished the 6th fight, I got a message just like the one you get when you encounter an assassin during an invasion. I accepted the message and beat him.
 
I played through it again this time with Kitana to reclaim #1 on the leaderboard and I encountered Reptile again.

Once again, it was on the 6th fight.
I had finished everyone before that match with a brutality and had gotten at least 5 flawless victories before the match.
