If you've been pronouncing Liu Kang's name as "Looey Kang" all these years, I'm sorry to tell you but you've been doing it wrong. ;) "Lue Kang" would give the pronunciation you're looking for.
 
The Russian spelling of Kung Jin's name is butchered so badly.

It's basically Kun Tsing.

If you meant "Lue" as in the English word "Lieu", then yes you are most correct.

About the Liu King subject, the correct pronunciation is "Lee-ooh Kahng" that's because in almost every language of the world i=eeh and u=ooh and this is also true in romanized transcriptions of other languages that don't use the roman alphabet (Cyrillic, Greek and Asian languages).g

So much so that you can't take a joke? Wasn't it obvious when I said LUI!! it was not serious..

I know, I said it's more like Lui than Liu as far as pronouncing goes.

I didn't even see your OP, to be honest. So many people have abominably shitty spelling that your sincere sounding follow-up was all I needed to hear.

Let my stern words stand in condemnation of any pitiable sorts who, unlike you, don't jest when they write Lui!

To be honest? It didn't sound obvious because quite a number of people spell it wrong even though Liu Kang has been around since 1992 and there were enough life bars with his name and bios and endings and whatever for one to know the correct way to spell it. I'm sorry if it wasn't obvious to me.

As for the pronouncing, it just sounds like "Lui" to you because those behind MK don't know how to pronounce sh *t. Most, if not all of the Asian-inspired names are pronounced wrong.
