Leak? Johnny and Sonya in-game models from story cutscene

Yeah like I said I'm not happy about a lot of the 3D characters getting passed over too, but might as well look at the silver lining. It's all us 3D era fans have left XD
 
Look at it this way... MKX is probably the last game for Johnny, Jax, Kenshi and Sonya. At least 4 more free slots for 3D characters in the next game ;)

I wouldn't be getting their hopes up like that. Who the hell is going to lead the Special Forces in MK11, Cassie?

Well, the chances of them being in the next game are pretty low. I can see them being cameos in the story as supervisors/guides, unless they die in MKX, but playable? Hell no. Not because I don't want them in, but because it simply won't make sense anymore. The roster of the next game will very likely consist of mainly PS2 and MKX characters with a few legacy characters.
 
How do you even know that? We know so little about MKX and they've been with the franchise for 25 years.

The chances of Ed Boon wanting to work on Kenshi, one of his all-time favorite characters, 4 years from now in MK11, seem low to you? You think it's more likely that Boon will let Kenshi gather dust for nearly a decade until MK12, without wanting to update the character and see him kick some ass?

As for Johnny Cage, I've discussed his chances at length. I expect that we're going to be seeing a lot more of him in the future, not less. He is all over every bit of MK media at present. That doesn't sound like an expendable character to me.
 
Trust me. At least one of the original 7 will die in MKX and won't be returning as playable ever again. And it is very likely it will be one of the parents. The purpose of the children is to eventually replace them. They can't do it now with MKX, because they need them to interact to establish and develope them. However, by MK11, the parents won't be that important anymore. Now they are in the game as playable because they still play a big role and will be raising them in MKX. In MK11, since the characters can now age, the parents will be either dead or seniors and the children will be as old as their parents in MK9... maybe a few years older. The parents won't be in shape anymore to fight, thus unplayable, but they might still be around as cameos to give advice and support. Plus the story will move on, making the parents likely even less relevant.

Ever again? Either you don't literally mean "ever again," or you absolutely cannot be trusted. What a silly thing to say. Yeah, what happens when a new Mortal Kombat movie comes out, which reboots the series again, and... what, NRS won't return your dead original-7 character back to life to tie-in with the movie? Because artistic integrity? I'm not sure you understand how "making money" works.

That said, one of the originals dying in this game is hardly an ambitious prediction, considering three of the originals died in MK9, and four more from MK2.

Your entire theory hinges on NRS being committed to a plan that will carry through MKX into at least MK11.

NRS.

The same NRS who in the last game killed off half of the cast, and are now bringing it back in MKX. Not two games later, literally the next game.

The same NRS who cyberized Sub-Zero just because and are now ub-cyberizing him (after he comes back from being dead) just because.

And your theory is that the parents are done for, because... what? Artistic integrity? The story matters? Nothing can stop the passing of the torch?

NRS makes one game at a time. You're setting yourself up for a world of disappointment.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear at this point that NRS makes one game at a time and when it's time for the next game, they don't care if they ruin some continuity or use a lame excuse to bring someone back.
"remember when Shao Kahn died? yeah it was uhm... a clone, yeah that's right" "you see that guy Taven we built up the whole game? he died, Shao Kahn won" "Johnny Cage! Alive again! Why not?" "on a second thought, Mavado didn't really kill Kabal you know"

I could see Cassie, Jacqui and Kung Jin taking over for their relatives.
I don't see why Sonya, Johnny, Jax and Kung Lao can't sit out for 1 or 2 games (whether that means killed off and brought back or just sit out MK11 and or MK12.
Kenshi is 1 of the only parents that I foresee not being replaced in MK11 or future games, given that he's Ed Boon's 2nd favorite.

Not only are the stories in the games becoming more sophisticated, but the Special Forces faction within the MK universe is becoming much more sophisticated, too. In MK9 it was just Sonya and Jax, two grunts against the world getting caught up in crazy tournaments. Following the two invasions of Earthrealm in MK9 and MKX, that's clearly no longer the case. It's an organization with a hierarchy. There are field operatives and there are supervisors.

Unless we get another time skip after MKX, which I doubt, Cassie, Jacqui, and Takeda will be in their mid-20s. Does it make sense to have a 25 year old run Special Forces? No, it does not. So while Johnny, Sonya, and Jax might not be playable in MK11, there is a zero percent chance that all of them die in this game. At least one of them is guaranteed to stick around to run Special Forces while Cassie and Takeda run around killing bad guys.

Saddens me that people include Kenshi in this group. He just got here. Unlike Jax, Sonya and Liu, he hasn't been in five straight games.
