I'm fine with Goro being in.

For me, Sheeva always felt like Midway was saying "Here's a playable Shokan, since Goro is unplayable."
 
I never liked Sheeva neither since something about her characters makes me really unlike her. She never seem that popular since she never return back as a playable character for another 10 years when MKA came out. If Goro is the next character then I can't wait to see to see how they pull him off. I would think Quan Chi would be next, but I look forward to Goro. Injustice had both Bane, Doomsday and Solomon Grundy. I think MKX will have Goro, Ferra & Torr and another large size character.

But Goro was playable in MKT, MK4 & MKD.
Sheeva was balanced version of Goro/Kintaro, they needed to make her female, because at the time the fans will not accept much weaker than Kintaro male shokan, and strong as Kintaro playable shokan (with chain combos & run!) will make Kabal look like a mid tier character.

The 2 things Boon&co did wrong with Sheeva were her appearance & moveset - Kintaro looked cooler than Goro, and Sheeva needed to look cooler than Kintaro, Sheeva should also be shokan's best moves collection - teleport stomp, taunt, some fireball, 4 armed grab, & her combos should be short, but specials very strong - to remain the boss feel. Instead she looked like some scary frog beast & her moveset wasn't that good.

As for Goro - depends of what Goro we talk about movesetwise. More like MK1/MKT/MK9? No. Thank you. MK4/MKD? Then yes, count me in.

In MK3, when Goro wasn't playable, is when they introduced Sheeva as a playable character, which is what I was aiming at.
Goro wasn't in MKII either, but Kintaro took that spot.
 
Yup, they gave fans Sheeva as playable shokan - the thing fans wanted since MK1, because for balace reasons they couldn't give us Kintaro or Goro, but they did few mistakes with her - bad/mediocre design (common MK3 thing) & moveset, in result what fans expected was very far from what they got.
 
At least they got Sheeva's story right the first time. It set the stage for Goro turning good.

What if Ed is just trolling us again. Ed Boon in one of his tweets said "Oh well... probably nothing" which made me think that he could just be trolling us again. I remember those Rain tweets he made before Raiden was shown off. I do think a possible character like the son of Goro and Sheeva could happen though.
 
What do you mean by "if"? He trolling us 24/7, people jumping to conclusions on posts like this one is the thing that makes me question the limits of wishfull thinking in fans heads.
"Boon took a photo of MKT sign" - MKT remake (HD/nonHD) is coming, "Shaolin Monks on his table" - Shaolin Monks remaster coming, "Boon retweeted my Ermac's picture" - Ermac confirmed, "Boon took a photo of Goro's doll" - Goro in MKX...
i understand that when you see any message that can be about 1 of your favorites, you start to hope he/she is in, but 90% of Boon's posts means nothing, and you better not get your hopes very high, or you risk to be very disappointed, when your favorite will miss the cut.

Anything is possible with Ed. :)

That said, if Goro IS in MKX, I'm open to the idea.
Bane and Solomon Grundy are the big power characters in Injustice, and I'd be totally fine with Ferra/Torr and Goro being the big power characters in MKX.
 
I don't think it's just trolling on this one and IMO, Goro in MKX could be pretty sweet actually. He's a classic after all. He always reminded me of that Simpsons episode where Bart steals a game called BONESTORM and there are two Goro parodies fighting each other.

...as it was in direct response to a request for hints. We also know the next reveal will be a villain and if the studio can balance a character like Ferra/Torr they can sure as hell do it with Goro. I'd love to see him in action, or even an heir/offspring of his.

In any case, this slow trickle of information is awful. It feels less organised this time around, but then I would say that because I'm gagging for this game like a kid for christmas.

Why does everyone assume 12, though?
Because of the 24 slots in the latest Kano build?

Ed Boon and Steve Beran said that the roster would be closer to MK9 ( 28 ).

If that's the case, and Johnny Sonya & Liu Kang are semi-confirmed, and there are 11+ NEW characters in MKX, then.......

1. Scorpion

3. Raiden
4. Kano
5. Johnny
6. Sonya
7. Liu Kang
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.
13.
14.


That could leave 7 potential slots open for returning characters (that is, of course, taking the Goro and Reptile Tweets with a grain of salt).
 
We don't know if Liu Kang will be playable. If he ends up being the surprise final boss then I doubt he will be playable. My final returning characters list would be:

Why does no one think that Quan chi could be the Final boss, we all know he is ready to betray shinnok at a moments notice
