It is a new time line, so we have to be open minded these post MK3 characters returning to progress the story. With Lui Kang in his current state I could see Kai stepping in to take his place.

I just hope that Kai isn't the ONLY MK4 character coming back in MK X, since Ed said A MK4 character (meaning 1 MK4 character), if that's true.

Sub-Zero could freeze Raiden, similarly like Frost was frozen. He'd be trapped for years, like those dudes in Demolition Man. Then, after millennia, Scorpion would free him and they'd cook sushi. Subby would let it go and they'd all have a picnic together in the Living Forest. There they would be slowly absorbed and eaten alive, happy they all peacefully agreed to commit suicide on such a sunny fine day.

I would love to see Kai take Liu Kang's place as he is far more interesting than Kang. But I would rather see Fujin, Reiko or Tanya first. Though I am hoping all four will come back.

Ed Boon: You will definitely see a Mortal Kombat 4 character, I believe that's the first time I've said that. You will also see some of the later game's fighters. You'll also see cameo's in the story mode. Some really fun ones.

Kai isn't 100% black either, if we're really getting technical and pulling straws too.
He's mixed, as he seems to be part Asian.
My whole point is that black pigmentation can exist in any of the fictional worlds of MK.
I NEVER said African, I said black.
NRS can do black, white, purple, green (Reptile) type of humanoinds if they want to.
The only black human-like creatures in MK aren't only from Earth.

I like kai for how much of a better character he could be he was real cool in mk4 along with fujin (who I have a gut feeling will be the one actually revealed and not raiden)
If Kai does become a playable character please don't sterotype him with the cornrows
Plus Kai ethnicity is Napali though still black
