Tryning to guess who will be the final boss...

Ed Boon talk at 8:35 of the final boss of MKX in these terms : "it will be a surprise returning character"

Can you guess who it will be ? I'm pretty sure than Reiko or Shinnok are a bit too simple, and i prefer considering that Raiden could be a better "Big bad" !
Remember that his role is very ambiguous in the story of MK9, and he led Liu Kang to his death...

What do you think ?

But honestly Liu Kang could be that final boss.

I doubt Raiden, in fact I bet Raiden dies to open the whole game. By the hands of Liu Kang.

Can't be Shinnok because we all expect that, but he could be a boss at some point for sure.

Onaga is another good guess.

Maybe Shujinko? Honestly he was pretty powerful, but if all the people he learned his moves from over the span of the first five games are pretty much dead before he can learn those moves maybe Shujinko never becomes a threat to anyone?

I like the prospect of Liu Kang but it seems too obvious.

Maybe Johnny Cage based on his ending?

There's a few characters that would make sense.
 
as soon as he said that for some reason I started thinking about Liu Kang. I don't think it will be Shinnok since he said its a "surprise" and its a "returning" character.

I don't think Shinnok would be a "surprise" because he would be the least surprising villain out of every character after MK9s ending. Also, he said "returning", meaning they were most probably in MK9. out of all the MK9 characters, the least "surprising" would be any villains, so that automatically rules them out. the MOST surprising would be a previous good guy. and IMHO, out of all the good guys, Liu Kang has the best chance of being the villain because 1.His fate in MK9, and 2.I really don't see anyone else as a primary villain. can u imagine Stryker or Jade as the main villain :P

It's also the only way of realistically bringing Liu Kang back. because 1.they have to bring liu kang back somehow because of all the fans, I mean come on hes the MK champion, one of the originals. They cant have a game without him just like Scorp and Subby. and 2.I don't see them bringing him back any other way, or as another generic good guy after MK9. they've done that formula way too many times.
 
Would be surprised if it's Liu Kang whose made a Fire God by the Elder Gods who aren't happy with what Raiden has been up to.
 
A surprise returning character, you say? Hmmm...

Shinnok? Too obvious.
Dark Raiden? Predictable!
Evil God Liu Kang? Also is predictable!
Reiko? Predictable and boring!
Onaga? Predictable and boring!

The only returning character that would surprise me is...

...Dark Kahn.

The blue guy from the gameplay trailer is called "Kotal Kahn". How many other Kahns there is? What if Shao Kahn cheats his way out of the punishment from the Elder Gods in a monstrous forms like Dark Kahn?

Or maybe...

...One Being, the creature that was destroyed by the Elder Gods and it's remains formed the realms. He was destroyed by the Gods, so he would be returning and would be surprising.
 
When I hear "a surprise RETURNING character," I interpret that as the last boss in MKX will be a character that was not in the last game... Well at least not as a playable character. Shinnok is my best guess.
 
The boss will be Superman - he is returning, because he was in MK8.

On a serious note, i just want this character to fit the boss status and don't be predictable from the very first cutscene in story mode.

Why nobody think it can be Goro, you know in 25 years many things could change and Shokans could now control Outworld.
