Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Yeah this is exciting, I'm really happy with the progress we are making. MK fans FTW heh :)

I'll work some more on the stage today, adding Shang on the throne. If I have time, I'll start on Sub's walk animation.

Oh, just the man I was looking for. I was about to put Shang in the stage, but I can't find the sitting sprites. I thought you had those made a long time ago?

That video, great stuff as usual!

Man, Youtube HD does a number on the red wall in the throne room... in youtube it looks like when a texture in a 3D game fails to load and it looks blurry. Looks a lot better in the screenshot and of course it'll look even better in action. I was almost going to say there seems to be a lack of texture\shading on the wall.... there still is kind of but it's not as bad as youtube makes it look. Nothing that I can't live with.

I do think the Sub-zero fatality is a bit too fast though on the part where he pulls the spine out. Like he grabs the neck and instantly the spine is out... have you thought of doing an animation of the spine actually sliding out of the body?

Also, about fixing up the UI. Yeah, Bleed.. that MUGEN HUD\Lifebar needs to go I say.. even in your own project. It's not MK'ey at all. Especially the portraits on the sides (I understand that all that stuff is probably temporary\placeholder).

The only minor complaint I have about this is the fact that Scorpion's spear is STILL coming from his body, while it should've been kept at the same height as the hand...Will make it look as if he's actually throwing it...Yes I know it's the same as it was in the Arcade, but it just looks out of the place.

Otherwise, great work to everyone involved in this.
 
I'm gonna have to alter the feet on this one, it looks strange in the game, with too much sliding.

Looks like they didn't necessarily use real actor in the MKHD remake before it was cancelled? I'm very interested in how they did it. Unless maybe the 3D character was just used as a template?

Anyway, I've been struggling with the walk animation all day. Trying to make it look right with the speed in the game. I just got an idea though, make a ball with a checker texture or like a Mint. Roll it once, over a certain time and see how it looks in the game. Make adjustments to make that look right, and that will be the distance a Player had to move in order to match with the game walk speed.

Animate the legs to match that, and it should look pretty good. The point is to make the feet look planted, not slide around. Looks like I can't avoid that with the real sprite poses, unless I alter the walk speed. It means Sub-Zero would have to walk at half speed.

So, I'll keep working on that till it looks right...
