OH SH-- Hackers Threaten Sony

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

Attention whores, if you want to make an impact why make a youtube video bringing attention to yourselves? It's bc they want fame and fans, if nobody pays attention to them they wouldn't do what they do. They're a bunch of computer geeks who want to be like their heroes they read about in comic books, they're wannabe vigilantees with a bogus cause. how bout you spend your time and knowledge dealing with something actually important, not ****ing online gamming you losers.

Weather you agree or not it's the LAW and George Hotz broke the LAW, it doesn't matter what your beliefs are, if you live here you abide by our laws and your opinion on the matter is irrelevant.

I am a whore, you have my attention.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

i dont have time to read through the whole post so im just going to post my thoughts.

summed up, Sony is just acting like a little girl targeting the wrong person.

ok now for me to back up my claims, a LOT of people THINK hacking is illegal, WHICH IT IS NOT, modifying a firmware to meet the consumers needs does NOT infringe the Millennium Digital Rights Act of 2000, being a somewhat experienced hacker i would know this. ok first off, what GEOhot DID do was violate Sonys User Agreement, but also Sony violated the mans personal life and accuse him of stuff he did NOT do.

GeoHot only posted the exploit to modify the firmware. he did not release any Homebrew to directly read off ISOs from Harddrives or DVD-R Discs, that was done by someone else. if in all honesty, Sony wants to sue someone, they should sue the person who made the ISO HDD code.

Sony also violated EVERYONE'S privacy who even VISITED the site, Sony paid off the ICC to keep track of EVERYONE'S IP address that visited the GeoHot website.

they also gained access to his paypal account and has his record for over 2 years.

Sony also accused him of fleeing the country when he went to south america for spring break, i SERIOUSLY hope Sony looses this case so they can learn a lesson about suing everyone who has done nothing wrong lawfully, in the terms of use, sony did not mention the violation of privacy they would do to you if you happen violate it.

also im VERY happy to hear Microsoft will be paying his debt if he does loose his case, a cut throat corp is going to be shown up by an even more cut throat corp, i i find the link to this i will edit my post and add it so people wont think im lying, i just hope Sony stops being a butt hurt 12 year old and learn to suck it up, you didn't see Microsoft sue every body who made the Free boots, they didn't sue the people who released the code to make a MSP generator and stole MILLIONS of MSP from them, instead they acted like the adult, found the source, terminated it, patched it up and moved on, sony will just sue you, microsoft will just ban you

Awesome post. +1

lol thats how I start all my rants, wanna make sure all them whores out there here what I have to say. I didn't realize how that read until you pointed that out lol

I don't know why this upsets you, but they do good things, too. They recently got this strip club bouncer arrested for beating up a customer, stealing his money, and generally humiliating him in the club's bathroom. They've also caught a few animal torturers caught, too.
A few good deeds doesnt excuse the bad that they did in the past. I just hate the fact that they are doing all this crap for nothing. They are hacking psn and now people that have nothing to do with this can't play on their psn accounts.

Attention whores want all of the attention, so the very fact that it's a group of people who have labelled themselves "anonymous" makes this the exact opposite of attention whoring.

Whether he broke the law or not is important because the laws in question are directly affect our freedoms, and that's a big part of why anon reacted the way they did.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

The bad they do far outweighs the good.
Like the fact that they support Assange.
**** that prick and **** those /b/tards.

They are anonymous bc they break the law and dont want to get busted. They still generate a fanbase and pull shit like this to get publicity, they may not be famous in their personal lives but they're legends in the eyes of the hacking community and they love that. thats why I called them attention whores.

If you disagree with a law that doesn't give you the right to break it.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

what law did George break? if you can give me the law ill give you my car

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

You know that's not how it works. They probably can get him for breach of contract (which isn't criminal), but the rest is too subjective to predict.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

While I disagree withe Sony's decision to take legal action against Geo Hot, I also believe that Anonymous is a group just trying to get attention by attacking a bigname company. Their argument is wrong on one level when they say that "we own it. forever." You bought a PS3 and Sony had the decency to grant a free-of-charge online service; who the f*ck has the right to say, "we own it" except Sony?

What kind of car is it?
Joking aside, idk if he technically broke any laws I thought he did but I could be wrong. His case isn't important to me, I don't personally have a problem with the dude. I just have a problem with this general mentality hackers and pirates seem to have. They think they are above the law bc they know how to hide and cover their tracks over the internet.

That's not the issue here. The issue is that anon believes that a customer should be able to modify a product as they please since they paid for it and that Sony shouldn't have removed a feature that was originally included with the console.

The only reason PSN is getting attacked is because it was the easiest target for anon.

Well I guess the same reasoning could be applied then, couldn't it? I mean, if Sony is the one who put the feature in, shouldn't they be allowed to take it out?

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

I don't know whose side to agree with. Sony may have gone a little too far suing GeoHot for the jailbreak, but still, hacking PSN is certainly not the answer.

Sure, but when they remove a feature that's a selling point, it becomes false advertising.

Geohot used the OtherOS functionality on the iphone to hack it, sounds like these guys are just mad that sony took a feature away that they planned on exploiting, no?

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

The internet needs hackers.

You don't want anyone to have full control over the internet.

Look what they did to cable.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

Regardless, does Anon really have any business getting involved and ****ing up other people's online experience? **** that and **** them. I had nothing to do with that dork getting sued, why should I have to pay for it? They just wanna make people as miserable as they are. Lame.

Re: OH SH-- Hackers Threants Sony

i'm sorry, but i personally think

THIS IS AWESOME! AHAHAHAHHAH way to stick it to those big companies when they get the little man right? ';[
