why disappointed with the fatalities?

when you look at the first three MK games you realize (especially in MK 1 and 2) that most of the fatalities were "one hit fatalities" (for example johnny knocks his opponents head off with an uppercut)... they were simple but everyone liked it...

since MK : DA fatalities were more distinctive... the opponent was mutilated and dismembered before he got killed...

and thats the point... most people dislike for example liu kangs fatality because in their opinion its too boring... i think people are too much accustomed to these exaggerated fatalities... what do you think about?

Well, look at the gore of things around back then, and look at the gore of things around today. Back then the fatalities were considered very graphic, but if they were released today it would just be something to shrug your shoulders too. People want the ridiculous because people want whatever they saw the last time that made them cringe to be topped. So seeing someone get punched in the heart is nothing special, especially when we are being promised a "dark and gritty" style for this game. If I see someones head get ripped off I don't want the head to pop off with a spine. I want to see the skin tearing apart, expressions of fear and pain on the face, screams like you've never heard before, meat hanging from the head, blood dripping down the body, spine hanging from the head, and then throw the head on the ground and stomped on with the eyes and things being mushed out from under the foot. That is a dark and gritty remake of what they have had in the past, and I think its what people want. including myself.

Personally I believe that would be a tad much. I'm one of those that think MK needs it's more "ridiculous" side to be left untouched. It can't become to real 'cause that would just ruin the feel of MK, for me. NEVER took it serious before (When we're talking gore, not gameplay) and don't get why I would wanna change that? It's supposed to be fun!

It's the fact that they are only getting dismembered when compared to say MK3 people were being skinned, melted with acid, being burnt till they were skeletons etc. Dismemberment is ok but we've come to expect a bit more is all.

it doesnt mean that i dont like more gruesome fatalities i love most of the fatalities since MK:DA but to come back to lius fatality... its simple but its fantastic...
does someone know the scene from god of war 3 where kratos rips helios (was it helios?) head off? its simple but it looks gruesome...

I completely agree with you, I was just touching on the incredibly bland fatalities, and how I think they should add more to them to make something simple something great. When it comes to something like Quan Chi ripping a leg off then beating someone to death with it, Dropping bombs out of your chest and blowing up the world, Uppercutting three heads off of a person, definitely things that make the fatalities enjoyable. What they are doing with well lets say skorpion, both fatalities he cuts you up with his sword, Thats the best fatality they could come up with? no real fatalities in Armageddon or mkvsdc so boon has had a lonnnnnnnng time to think of what to come up with and that is the best they have? He could use his spear to tear your body parts off or do some crazy stuff with fire.

thats what i was imagining with the whole skin tearing thing haha

IMO, MK9's Fatalities are about style. Yes, they're gory, but they also showcase the character's personality and prowess. The X-Rays serve as the brutal and cringeworthy aspects of the game instead. And if the sound leaks are anything to go by, there will be Brutalities also, which I presume would outdo the X-Rays in that regard, and could be the extreme finisher that some fans desire.
One more thing, I think that all the classic fatalities that people want to see remade, will be made available via DLC. Honestly, I think everyone will be happy with the finishers, when we finally see everything that's in store for us.

Good point man, didn't really consider something like that. The fatalities do seem to show more depth for the characters, Mileena has the head rip off and then eating the face off, showing she is a psycho chick who loves to kill. Johnny Cage holds the head up to show it off, showing he is ****y. Not really sure the point Kung Lao wants to make with the whole buzz saw thing. But on that note, that was the first fatality I saw for the game, and It was amazing, So I had very High hopes, which havent really been met yet. But games guna be amazing no matter what, and thats all that matters :D

well i still think they all suck, i mean look at kratos head rip , when he kills appollo....why couldnt sub zero do that? but with the spine slowly coming out of the flesh? and the skin rip? why ? coz the mk team is lazy and possibly hacks who cant evolve

there must be this "wow" effect in the fatalities... i love kung laos circular saw fatality... and also mileenas one... its sick and crazy...
i love liu kangs fatality... especially when he pulls out his arm from the enemys body... slowly and the sound is amazing...

im satisfied with most of the fatalities... especially the cross over ones from MK2...

i´m sure the game will be banned soon in germany after its release... this censorship here is more than whack...

LOL. It is a particularly gruesome fatality, but still reflects his personality; giving into his anger/emotions, unlike the purity of Liu Kang.
Anway, I don't know if many people realize how few finishers we've actually seen. There's going to be an abundance of them, so there's bound to be at least some that will satisfy even the most critical of fans. Looking at you spader...

its too early to judge game's fatalities, without knowing all the details...we don't even know the whole roster yet, nor that we've seen each fatality for REVEALED characters even...so i say lets wait and see...many people think that there won't be variety in fatalities in Mk 2011, because what they've seen looks all smae-type of fatalities, but that doesn't mean it will look all the same for every character...ESPECIALLY because we haven't seen any second fatalities yet...

Actually there have been videos released showing two for Scorpion and three for Sub-Zero in total.

Well, judging the quality of fatalities is a subjective matter. There's no checklist for things that a fatality must adhere to, apart from killing your opponent. Some may appeal more to others, so what I'm saying is - based on the amount there will be, you will have your own preference for fatalities, just as everyone else does. It may simply be that you don't like most of the ones you've seen so far. But that's not a good enough reason to drag the whole lot down prematurely, IMO.

Word.

Dude...

I think the fatalities so far are quite good, its a right balance of gore, effects, humour, style and realisation. Some people i've seen would have the fatalities OTT and would just like pure gore like something a SAW movie would do which imo is something an MK fatality isn't always about.

100% agree, you simply can't make everyone happy.
Obviously this isn't an excuse to be lazy and make every fatality look similar.

I want one of Rick Taylors Splatterkills as a fatality:

He jumps over their head and rips their intestines out their ass!
