Jade, Sindel, and Liu Kang will be pissed and can end up like Dark Raiden from MKD.
Would be a shocking twist, don't you think? I agree it's questionable... But it's just obviously a thought that comes to mind when you see Mileena's vignette that can't be ignored.
According this Wiki article: "As Shang Tsung's presence on Earthrealm no longer exists, Shao Kahn gives him a new physical form, one that is much younger in appearance. Kahn then sends Mileena, Kitana, Baraka, Kintaro, and Shang Tsung to destroy the Shaolin Monastery. "@mortalkombat: Wasn't a tarkatan horde (led by Baraka himself) the responsible for the murder of his shaolin monks? At least I've never seen anything stating that Kitana was involved in this.

Alllllllright... I guess that wrecks my theory. For further details, I need you to disable your "non-PM" policy. (okay)
FYI, the malibu comics is completely non-canon...

EDIT: Actually... wait. I was incorrectly referring to Malibu comics. In here, it says the same thing about Kitana, Mileena and Kintaro destroying the Shaolin monastery under the story of "Mortal Kombat II Collector's Edition".
Dude imagine how piss Liu would be...... I kinda hope it happens just to see liu go all out on who killed her.if she died of course
I was right! You are a youngster!...nigga i don't like you
Funniest post I've seen all day. Unnecessary, but funny.

It seems to me that this actually confirms what the two wiki articles have said. The announced servants of Shao Kahn was said right after he discussed taking revenge against those responsible for Goro's death. There is no mention of a Tarkatan horde being the sole destroyer. In fact, the new Sub-Zero comes to Liu Kang and Kung Lao after they see the destroyed monastery and he gives surveillance evidence that Shang Tsung was there during the massacre and that during it, they were discussing about finding Johnny Cage.
I guess this means there could be bad blood between Kang and Kitana.
I was right! You are a youngster!
The surveillance photo shows Shang Tsung in an area that is clearly being destroyed because it's set ablaze. And Sub-Zero said he caught some surveillance of the battle on the monastery. As soon as this page starts, he talks about the battle... then continues that it was the first portal to open. I would assume when he's referring to the photo of Shang Tsung, he is still in the context of talking about the Shaolin massacre.Okay, so... I don't know. How could they have just slaughtered the entire shaolin crowd within 2 pages, considering it all happened simultaneously?
Plus, in Baraka's bio, it is stated that he was the one who led the attack, which could basically mean it was in fact, a tarkatan horde who went to wreak havoc on Earth.
As for the picture, Sub-Zero himself said they were spying the arrival of Shang Tsung as soon as he opened a portal in Earthrealm. That evidence is not from the monastery. In addition, the younger SZ said that they (Shang and the others) were planning on visiting Johnny Cage.
See?
Had Kitana killed his friends, she would have said something prior to Kang's death, or when they were developing a relashionship. Seems pretty logical to me.

Also... look here. It shows Baraka with everyone else when they're raiding Johnny Cage's workplace.
Kitana has been an assassin for Shao Kahn for thousands of years. I don't think it would be too hard to imagine that she would have done it and felt any serious remorse. She probably never had any real chance to develop any "serious" relationship, so it's not like they would have had time to talk about anything serious.
I think it's possible that Kitana's desire to betray Kahn was only successful thanks to Kang's willingness to show mercy and realize his motives of revenge were immoral. Perhaps he would have killed her in the tournament if he was truly unforgiving.
You are too! Hell, I'm a youngster in the MK Universe. I was 2 when MK1 came out.
Well... whatever. The point was that Kitana was present during the Shaolin massacre.Yah, but that doesn't exactly mean Shang had the need to get blood on his hands. He could have just been sitting there, while ordering Kintaro and Baraka do all the dirty work, while the others were on a separate killing spree.
Nothing was shown! She and Mileena were doing nothing until Tsung told them to and then not long after, Raiden ended the whole fight before anything else could happen. You might have noticed before, but while Jax was fighting Kintaro and etc., Kitana wasn't doing anything, even after Shang ordered her to aid Baraka with Johnny Cage.
She was still a ruthless assassin, comparable to that of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Mileena and Kitana are supposed to be the female versions of these two.The Malibu comics are not the best option to suggest, but you can clearly see that Kitana tries not to get envolved with fighting, according to the Prince of Pain trilogy. It is further noticed in the cartoons, movies and canonically, during her MK Unchained ending. Or when she was sucessful with the Shokans/Centaurs' agreement to put their differences aside.
You also forgot after MKII, Kitana was captured... and right after MKIII, she and Sindel immediately returned to Edenia. I highly doubt there was any time for any communication between the two besides Liu Kang's ending for MK4 (which after that, I still think there was hardly any communication).I believe her relashionship with Liu Kang wasn't fully developed due to his status as a monk, along with the fact that he was trying to recruit a new generation of monks. But hey, just saying...
I know I've been quoting too much at this point, but I must ask where it's been stated that he does fight Tsung? If there is statement somewhere, I would like to know. If not (for the sake of making Shang Tsung look more better as a villain), I don't think it's likely they even fought or that he even participated in the tournament. Wasn't Sindel's resurrection being prepared during this point, with the tournament being a distraction? So Tsung and Quan Chi should be on Earthrealm.I find MKII to be rather mysterious. After all these years, I still don't know about the matches during that damn tournament. What I do know, however, is that Kang faced both Shang and Kahn, emerging victorious in the end.
Even if she learned her past, she would still have to feign loyalty to Kahn or else she would be suspect; therefore, killing innocent Shaolin monks for the greater good might be necessary in her eyes. But I think Kitana's desire to betray Kahn is because she believed that the earthrealm warriors were capable to stop Kahn's reign of terror, thus able to finally restore Edenia. And let us not forget the fact that she learned about her true past moments prior to MKII.
Also: he couldn't have killed her because, as stated in her bio, she began contacting one of Earthrealm's heroes (which is probably Liu Kang), giving him advice to help in their struggle against Kahn. Makes sense, since it's a plausible reason as to why Mileena attacked Kitana between MKII~MKIII.

MK Wikia said:At the tournament, he and Kung Lao met Kitana, and Liu Kang began to fall in love with her. He learned the true nature of the Outworld tournament but competed anyway. While it is unclear as to what matches took place, it is known that Liu Kang fought Shao Kahn, eventually overpowering the emperor. It is also strongly possible he also faced Shang Tsung in front of Shao Kahn, defeating him despite his youth and renewed powers, and Kintaro as well.

She was seen talking to one of the Earthrealm warriors. That doesn't mean anything breakthrough-worthy was said. I would imagine something might have been said to Kang to make him think and second guess Kitana's motives, but do you really think he just trusted her on the spot? No.
In fact, in this game, now that we have Mileena's new personality, these assassins will be known for seducing their victims into deception. Look at how they're dressed now... they're clearly dressed in a manner that takes advantage of their figures to help them in assassinating targets. Kang would most likely realize this. .
