who do you think will be the kombatant to set the course of things right

raijin

BANALITY
my guess is kung lao. seeing as how lui kang was the prior champion of all the mortal kombats but still failed to protect the realms from complete obliteration it would be cool to see the true successor of the champion blood line to set things back on the right track. either him or scorpion.

Scorpion will never be the champion of Mortal Kombat. Ever. However, I do think that Kung Lao becoming the champ would be pretty sweet. I remember when I first saw Kung Lao in MKII. I figured that if Liu Kang couldn't win, we'd always have Kung Lao to save the day. Plus, he's just a much more interesting character. He's not a complete hero, he's just a DAMN good member of the Order of Light. He's sent in when the champ isn't delivering the goods. Kung Lao is just plain cool. He's a fixer of problems. I mean, the dude is just elite.

ya never know. they did make him the champion of the elder gods in mka so it's anybody's guess. as far as I knew both lui kang and kung lao were actually from the white lotus but were representing the order of light. I always thought that was cool seeing as how in a lot old kung fu flicks the white lotus cult were always the rivals of shaolin and depicted as evil. which kind of went along with the whole dark theme of MK.

EDIT: MK DECEPTION MY BAD.

Kung Lao. Nothing more to say about him! If anything, raiden might take matters into his own hands as well. Scorpion doesnt give a shit about the tournament, he just wants justice and his soul to be at peace. Then again, he was the true champion of the elder gods in the original storyline, so who knows they might expand on that so i agree with raijin... Johnny cage would be hillarious LOL.

According to: http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Kung_Lao

"Kung Lao was originally the one to represent the Shaolin in the Mortal Kombat tournament but he declined, knowing of the consequences of becoming champion. As a result, Liu Kang was chosen and emerged as the winner."

I'd also like to see Kung Lao become champion, this time around, and follow in the Great Kung Lao's footsteps.

Scorpion's story is not cannon. MKA is a lie.

it never started in Armageddon, it started in Deception, when the elder gods transformed them into their warrior, and although his ending in deception wasnt canon, they say he was the TRUE champion of the elder gods, so yeah there is reason to believe he was the true champion of the elder gods.

In MKII, Baraka becomes the new king of Outworld. What's your point?

the point is you never know. who the hell expected some hercules knock off to be earth realm's last hope? not I, I hated gayven and gaygon lol. they both suck arse. maybe scorpion inadvertently sets things right. the point is its anyones's guess and makes for some interesting speculation to fill the lonely void that will gnaw at every MK fan's soul until its ultimate release. lol

MKA is not a lie, the events in this new installment are in direct relation to the events in Armageddon. hence the flashback rewind what ever raiden has done to rest the clock to avert armageddon

Scorpion should NEVER be the champion of Mortal Kombat. He's far too charming as an underdog and a disinterested party to the tournament at large. Scorpion was never meant to be a savior of humanity. I mean, c'mon.

I get what you mean brother, i really like scorpions tragic, "im out for revenge", shit on everybody who gets in my way approach. to make him a hero would ruin his character completely.

I'm a little lost. When did he become the savior of Humanity? In his ending? If so, who cares? It's not canon or anything. Wasn't his story in the game something like... Him trying to kill Taven and Daegon after the Gods screwed him over?

I don't know. I actually never played MKA. I did play Deception and I only got that far. Thing is, Scorpion should never be a champ or hero or a representative of the good guys at all. Scorpion is not in the tournament to save Earth or be a champion. He's just out for revenge. The tournament just happened to be the place most likely that he could exact that revenge. He's just a force, a ghost, a being motivated only by making the wrongs against him right. Scorpion is a denizen of Hell. I don't think he cares about the rest of creation or the workings of the elder gods. He'd just as easily kill you as to look at you.

Well I wouldn't worry about it. I HIGHLY doubt Scorpion will ever be anything more than that... Outside of non-canon endings and such.

I still don't know where this savior of humanity thing comes from. Then again, I didn't really play Deception or Deadly Alliance a whole lot. So maybe I missed something there.

The Champion of mortal kombat WAS implied to be the protector of Earth unless Outworld won.

In fact, since Scorpion would probably represent his own desires, if he became the champion of Mortal Kombat, it'd leave Earthrealm vulnerable to the Netherrealm.

molch and drahmin threw scorpion to the gateway to heaven(which shang tsung used to get unlimted supply of souls) and when he got up there the elder gods made him the champion and to defeat onaga

and from there it is confusing cause shujinko said he did it and his bio from mka said it too
and scorpion bein pissed at the elder gods for screwing him over

God damn I'm glad they're starting over.

You never know with MK games, I for one would like to see Shang Tsung be forced to be champion. I loved seeing Shang Tsung briefly fight as a good guy in MK vs DC and in the Conquest tv series because he had to.
