Mortal Kombat 1 General Discussion Media Thread

We'll see if NRS/WB stay true to their word......like bbblp mentioned earlier this could be another MKX situation again. I love to be wrong though.

So far this bodes well with the whole "It can't be purchased; it can only be earned" part.
My biggest worry was that Invasions was going to involve an MK11 Time Krystals type of bullshit currency all over again but rather being used as a Battle Pass / Pay-To-Win type of progress throughout that mode, since there are Dragon Krystals in this game.
That doesn't seem to be the case.

...Probably because Cyber-Smoke is a Smoke skin. Also Cyrax is the one with bombs so it makes sense.

Edit: Shao (as long as he keeps his mask on) with Motaro is pretty sick.

IDK it comes off as a lazy and missed opportunity to not have human smoke and Cyber smoke as a Kameo.

Why is Cyrax doing Robo Smokes Armageddon Fatality?
I mean, to play devil's advocate, Cyrax also had that Fatality in MK GOLD.
Yeah, I know that Cyber Smoke had it first, but..........

It's not THAT strange to me.

My theory is invasion mode is so trash and shamelessly gridny and micro transaction and mobile game looking they are embarrassed to even bring it up lol I wouldn't be surprised if they never mention it.
Grindy, yes.
Mtx, no.
Derek specifically was quick to dispel that it in-game currency has to be earned for that mode and no real money can be spent for seasonal credits.
I've been very critial on this mode for that reason in that I was thinking it was going to be a Battle Pass situation, but I was wrong on that.

"If you, like me, read the words "seasonal updates" and "progression" and start thinking about live-service titles and Battle Passes and so on, have no fear as Kirtzic very politely yelled "no" in my face when I asked whether it would have one. Instead, as you're playing the game in any mode whatsoever, seasonal credits are unlocked. It can't be purchased; it can only be earned, and then you can then use those credits to unlock cosmetics."

Well all I'm asking for is a little consistency from NRS (I know how silly of me) I never owned but use to rent MK gold back in the day so I didn't even know Cyrax stole Smokes fatality in it. It's weird to me but whatever.....

Yeah, I was honestly expecting his arm panel / Self-Destruct or Helicopter one, but when I saw this my mind jumped to "Oh, ok, so they went with the MK Gold version of this Fatality. Lol"

Everyone saw the Shang Tsung/Kronika scene in the story mode. right? By the way, that is not Kronika. For people who played Deception, you know what I'm talking about...

It's not really that surprising considering the whole Hollywood writers strike thing has been going on for a while now. It was only a matter of time before it trickled down into the video game industry as well.

Well everyone's favorite modifiers came back. At least they added test your might back.

Yeah, that's where they will be making money. I can already see it getting annoying, while having to fight every single step and slowly progressing.

"Netherrealm doesn't seem to be loosening its grip on a crown as a King of single player mode" fuck off IGN. "Single Player CONTENT" my ass. This is an online mode, with different seasons to grind through.

I saw Max take on this mode just now and he made it clear that this is just Towers of Time as a board's game without a dice.
Play as Kung Lao, yet unlocks stuff for Sub Zero. So basically, one can expect stuff to be random and certain character unlockable stuff to be behind massive grind. I remember, when I had to unlock 2nd Shang Tsung's room just to get to Frost's content in MK11, which required 500 or so fatalities...

To be devil's advocate, though. I saw that they did bring additional challenges. It ain't just fighting other enemies with modifiers. Apparently you can also get challenges as, dodging projectiles (and test your might). So there seems to be a diversity in what challenges you will be getting, unlike towers of time, which was pretty much the same shit in different color. But that still gets washed away by the fact that you will be having to grind for everything, which will most definitely reduce entire experience into an annoying grindfest. Basically this mode is for people who get addicted to doing same thing over and over again and slogging through these "boards".

Nah. SF6 won this year easy.

Regardless if one likes World Tour in SF or not, that mode is designed with fun in mind. The grind in there, makes your character stronger and you get to interact with other favorite characters of yours. Be it directly or through messaging. Leveling those characters, rewards with you stuff you can use to improve your experience overall, like by giving you more fighting options and tools.

Here on other hand? Easter Eggs. References. And a fancy board to run through. An illusion of "exploration".

Well in the end. This is pretty much what I expected. A story mode for you to beat once and a mode to grind endlessly, while trying to get "gear" for your character, while having to slog through useless unlockables (oh and I bet they will give something like icons or whatever stuff, you couldn't care less about to unlock, just to fill up "unlockable content" numbers). You got that in MK11 and now you get that in MK1, just in different clothing. Same shit, different number.

Oh and they brought Kronika back. So time travel is still a theme. They can't be consistent at all. They reboot for the sake of rebooting and they will be rebooting the reboot and eh. I just got up and already getting tired from all of this.

This entire "game" is a soulless corporate cash grab.

I appreciate sharing stuff about the mode, but please don't mention me, when it comes to this "game" again. I really... and I mean REALLY don't wanna see more about this. It makes me physically ill, just seeing this creatively bankrupt mess. There is not a single ounce of passion in this product and it has nothing to offer, when it comes to creativity, innovation or expansion of MK world. Tis just a product and I prefer to see MK in positive light, not whatever this is.
All this rambling based on 0 user experience. Thou shall not be missed. Enjoy SF6.

We'll be enjoying MK in spades.

You know I legitimately got surprised, when I received a notification that someone directed a reply to me in this thread. I expected that something major happened , as 2 PAGES ago, I asked kindly to:

Alas, I got reminded that not even this low traffic forum is immune from NRS quality dumbasses.

Buddy, if you rubbed your two brain cells together, you would understand that what you just wrote me here is equivalent of writing "Nobody cares" on a post. It is called a "contradictory statement"

Apparently you miss me enough, if you decided to search up a post from few pages ago and instead of focusing on the game, write me DIRECTLY how amazing you will be, while enjoying MK.

I don't even know you, so do me a favor,

grow up and fuck off to your precious MK in SILENCE. You don't need to directly announce to me, what you gonna do with your life.

You know? He is right. I shouldn't judge the game, without playing it first. Not like company has a history of fucking over PC platform or anything.

I am gonna try the Beta!

Oh. You have to pre-order the game, to gain access to Beta. Oh ok. FIIIIIINE. I will be retarded and pre-order the game, before I even know about its performance on PC.

What's that? No Beta for PC? Well that sucks.

Surely there will be a DEMO to try the game and see how it works, before I make my final purchase?

Nope. None of that too.

Hmmm...

So I guess, I should just trust a company, that has a history of constantly fucking over and neglecting PC port for MULTIPLE games over the span of 10 years, due the fact that they don't even do the porting in house, but give it away to a 3rd party company to do entire work.

Cause you know... THIS TIME it will be different. Surely THIS TIME they have decided to be better, because its not like they have been constantly rewarded for their shitty practices with millions of copies sold.

Or I could spend money and buy one of the useless consoles, that don't even really have their exclusive games anymore, as everything is being ported to PC anyway, just so I could play one fucking game without worrying about DENUVO or ability to successfully play with people on different platforms in 2023..

0 user experience... holy shit.... More like someone has 0 brain tissue at this point, as operates and sounds like a perfect doggie that buys everything that is shiny and needs to announce to the world, how awesome he is for doing that.

It didn't stop people from paying through the nose just to play Starfield a few days early yet there was no demo/beta. Most of them being PC players. I'm not trying to justify NRS with the PC community but they're definitely not the only developer doing it. Fallout 76 says Hi yet no one cares. People see the shiny new thing and want to play it but that's casual AAA gaming in a nutshell. It's always been that way. You're just wasting your time with trolls who won't even bother to read your reply post anyway.

It wasn't always this way. It is simply a new generation of players who don't know any better. Obviously there are many "veteran" ones too, who simply accepted this as new reality. Entire situation is simply a frog slowly being boiled and not realizing it, or simply not giving a fuck at this point.

Though I do agree, that gaming "community" is a lost cause now. Complete apathy and raging about prices/practices, yet still buying the said games, cause "it looks fun". It is an endless cycle now. It will only get worse. Soon people will be paying 1 dollar per magazine/clip in shooter games, like EA wanted.

Ten years ago it seemed like an idiotic proposal, but today you will find people that will defend even that practice.

I mean people could be supporting indies and actually passionate devs, who are free of corporate rot, but... it is much better just to bitch about next AAA game, while paying full price for it.

As for that genius. He cared enough to comment on my old post, so his ego will get him to read the reply as well. That's basic psychology of people like that. They are that simple.

While NRS are not the only developer, the parent WB asshole....uh, I mean.......as...a...whole (lol) is generally giving PC players the shit end of the stick with things like Arkham Knight, the MK games and Injustice games.

WB (in general) and Arkane Studios are 2 of the major reasons why I never went the PC route for gaming.
I love their games but the PC ports end up being shit.
