As it's been since 2020, and (imo) likely will be from now on.
E3 has felt (to me) like a dinosaur for a LOOOOOOONG while now, and covid / lockdowns just helped to speed things up along the way.
Between things like Nintendo Directs, State of Plays for PS, Xbox + Bethesda showcases, GamesCom, Summer Game Fest, TGA, Paris Games Week and now Xbox Developer Directs......flying people out and spending money on venue space seems like a thing of the past.
They can do their own stuff and schedule it whenever they feel like it.
Some of us older gamers may not like it, but it's been heading that way for a while.
I'd be surprised if E3 ever comes back at all.

E3 problem was the content they showed. Less and less people watched it or attended it, because organizers thought "Hey... how about we fill it up with tons of shit people don't actually care about, when they watch GAMES SHOWCASE! Like celebrities! Political virtue signaling! Ads! Ads! ADS! MORE ADS!"
E3 of the old, had stupid moments, but it was about gaming, so even those moments were part of the fun, but the last E3 showcases... I couldn't even watch them. 10% of games, 40% cinematics and 150% unnecessary bullshit, that nobody asked for.
The thing is. If they truly cared about gaming and understood what people wanted, they could still have had E3 this year. Do lower budget, but instead of begging top companies to come, focus on Indies. Make entire showcase with indie games. I don't mind. Hell I would watch to see, the stuff I am missing out or what is coming. Make it fun, by focusing on small things. Hell most of creativity comes from smaller things.
But they are like "due lack of interest". Buddy, there is no lack of interest in GAMES. Your stupid ass, just wanted the big companies to come in and boost your numbers, hence why you dropped it.
From what I heard they didn't even organize anything or communicate with devs. They utterly gave up, cause they never really cared in the first place.

Most people with a functioning brain knew E3 was on Its way out years ago. There's more events and showcases than ever. E3 just got lost in the shuffle. Despite the conferences, I do miss the 1 on 1 with the developers vs the press. At the time it was the best way to see the gameplay instead of a flashy trailers. Regardless NRS have plenty other events to annouce their game. I'm still sticking to the announcement or gameplay teaser being at Evo followed by a seperate video press event. I guess we'll see.

Even if they truly cared about gaming and understood what people wanted or decided to do an indie showcase, though, they still likely wouldn't have been able to do it with out at least 1 of the big 3 being there because those 3 big companies are the big draw to the show for the consumers.
Without Nintendo, Sony or MS there a lot of that attention is gone and consumers are like "might as well just see what Sony, MS and Nintendo have to show, themselves."

GTTV did do a special with Geoff Keighley & Ed Boon and him announcing a stage and character at the time for MK9 and he also announced MK11 at the game awards with Geoff hosting it.

Agreed, and again, with the digital age of these companies going "I can stream a direct / event online whenever I want to and people will tune in," they save money by doing that and do it at their own leisure.

Depending on the big 3 is just the easy way.
Done properly you can make a show worth watching. And that's exactly my point. Show gameplay, not flashy cinematic trailers or celebrity interviews. Cause company directs are no better right now. Just bunch of cinematic garbage and barely gameplay.
"There's more events and showcases than ever." It ain't quantity, it is quality. In the mountain of trash, a lone gem just shines brighter.
E3 started collapsing, when numbers dropped the first time, due them adding political messaging and just filling up showcase with corporate garbage. Once companies saw that E3 was failing in attracting sufficient number of people, then they decided to make a move to direct shows.
I can guarantee you, that if there was a showcase, that attracted large number of people, big companies would be lining up to show off their stuff in there instead.
A right person in the right place can make a masterpiece out of nothing, E3 organizers are nowhere close to that.

1. It makes fun of pronouns with Ice and Icer.
2. It feels overall bait with trying to create the boogieman idea on what a leftist person thinks. It feels dumb that people assume that everyone on the left wants LGBTQ+ stuff is being sholve down everyone's throats despite the fact that there is still plenty of stuff that is made for cis gender hetero people. Even if they do, who cares? Times are going to change. It's no different when we started to see white people starting to date other people of color in pop culture after the 1960s.
People also complain so much about left wing media, but no one gives a shit about conservative media existing. We have a ton of movies and video games about cops or soldiers fighting in the Middle East.

No, please don't compare people coming TOGETHER and rationality prevailing, with what is happening today. Cause it is a complete opposite. You can't even play a game now in peace, without having to make sure that the devs or authors have never said anything "bad", otherwise you're a phobe of some sort.
Division and stupidity is what we have now. Quite the opposite of when people just realized that a different skin color, doesn't change that we are all human and regardless of our differences we can work/live together, while coexisting.
And if a picture like this is considered a hate bait or bigotry (as it was claimed in the reason for removal), then it just shows how dysfunctional this entire thing is.
.S Nobody is complaining about left media existing. The problem is that for that media to exist, they twist the existing media to match "modern audience" whatever that is.

When Kung Jin was introduced, I do remember rolling my eyes, as I was already getting tired of wokism, when it JUST STARTED.
But on other hand. Kung Jin was a brand new character. He can be whatever. Black, Yellow, Blue, Gay, Trans or a freaking bird. If he is a new character/new creation, then why not. Go crazy. Hell, I will defend that.

Oh yeah. The only reason, I noticed, was because I heard an exact same line just recently.
I was burn out at that time, so paid more attention to it, than I needed to. All things considered that was a very tasteful character building. Unlike nowadays.

Well from the last idiotic media that I watched, that made me almost gauge my eyes out, was Velma, I assume it would go along these lines:
Tons of pop culture in your face references, smug and all knowing. Never loses a fight. Spends his entire time blaming a specific group of people for all his issues and tells how good they have it, which currently is *checks notes* white people for some reason. Then most of the story, will revolve around him and his crush. Pick any MK character that isn't gay, turn him gay and vuolia. You have a relationship arc. That's how they would write Kung Jin now.
And knowing how they write characters nowadays... that is a very likely scenario. If they could pull Jade/Kotal relationship out of their ass, then they can do even better with Kung Jin.
Yeah, I really do miss, when characters could be interesting and deep, instead of entire thing revolving about what they do in their bedroom.
