Sweet update. But I have to say that both Sonya and Catwoman have pretty boring fatalities. I thought that we got over this MKDA breaking neck stuff. Anywho, Subby is the star of this update. With a cool fatality ta boot! At least there was no stomping

I thought Catwoman's was actually pretty good. Very rough-and-tumble.
October 31st, 2008 11:51 AM CST - ChiefThunder
Yeah, I wouldn't mind rough-and-tumbling it with Catwoman

I'm a bit underwhelmed by these as well, but Subby's isn't too shabby, if completely predictable.

Sub Zero was BA. The other two were meh at best.

As I said in the other thread, Subbies is a classic revamped (as many of these seem to be, and I'm O.K. with that). Catwoman's isn't the best, but I've definitely seen worse. Like Sonya's for instance. That one's worse.

And to top it all off, are we also noticing the apparent lack of blood?
October 31st, 2008 6:28 PM CST - Xx*mkvsdcu*xX
woooooooooooooooow! i like sub-zero's and catwoman's fatalities XD

I noticed the lack of blood in the last movie too. TBH I'm past caring. There's no blood in SCIV, it's still a full on blindingly good game.
October 31st, 2008 8:40 PM CST - Glamador
I have little doubt there will be blood. I mean, they're really pushed that fact. I do wonder about why it isn't present in the past few videos however...
October 31st, 2008 9:59 PM CST - DCR
Yeah, I wouldn't worry about the blood thing. I know this has caused a huge uproar in the community, but we know there's blood in the game. I remember back when we were nearing the release of Deception, I believe, and a couple videos made it out that had the violence turned off. People freaked out then too, but they've done this numerous times in the past during promotional videos I'm having trouble pinning it down now, but I could swear that Sonya's fatality was an ordinary throw move in one of the previous games. It seems like either she or Kitana had it. Does anyone remember specifically who had it in which game?

I don't recall, but I'm guessing it was in MK4 since that was the game that introduced bone breaker moves.

In my opinion these fatalitys are to short and boring. Okay i understand the brutality thing for heroes because they dont kill, but come on! Why the hell would they make this a "t" game? Fatalitys are supposed to be at least 5 seconds each!!! Cant they just make it "m" and bring back the blood and gore that has garned this series great reputation!

That's what I was thinking. I'd play MK Gold to make sure, but... nah.

Very simply, DC doesn't want their characters involved in an M rated game.

Since when? Either buy the game or dont. I dont know what to tell you people. I could care less if there is Fatalites at all. I'll do them to get schievements, but after that, unless some cool Fatality glitches are found, I wont do them at all.

I'm pretty sure it was just her regular throw.

They were all "brutal" in their own right, but I like Catwoman's because it is pretty to the point death blow. Choke, pulls you on your knees and snap...definitely a nasty one even if it's quick(who cares about gore) personally, at this point I'd like to go for the more realistic, less blood over the top gore and more realistic ways to kill someone. Sonya's I liked, felt it could have been a little better but given the T rating, Midway is only doing what they can work with remember. Sub's=pure ownage, nuff said. A great revamp to his MK3 fatality, I like this one even more honestly. You can tell the MK guys will have better fatalities overall, but I do like some of the DC ones as well. Superman if you checked out one of the recent Boon interviews said Supermans second Brutality is pretty damn brutal...he freezes you, picks you up flies into the air and drops you while you shatter....that's pretty messed up even for Superman lol. (assuming it's not tweaked due to the ESRB)

Agreed. They should extend the fatalities, though. They could trade in the visceral finisher for a nifty series of devastating blows - a kill kata, if you will.

I'm pretty sure he meant the ice around you shatters and (IIRC) he slams on top of you afterward. I'm thinking Boon just made a freudian slip.

Yeah, that would be cool I wouldn't mind that at all either Glamador, that's why I'm thinking (for Superman) but the way Boon said it obviously makes you wonder lol. We'll see though, I'm sure either way It'll look neat

Sonya, GL's and Flash's are soooo weak. I mean, Flash's finishing move just looks like one of his regular special moves. I know finishing moves don't make the game and its far from the reason I want it, but I figured the MK team could come up with a few better ideas, w/o all the blood and violence. And someone asked about blood, seeing Baraka's blades on superman in one of the gameplay vids with NO blood should pretty much answer that question. (yes, that might not be the finished game, but chances are there will be no blood for that move like we are used too) Its all about the gameplay anyway.

I liked all three of the fatalities. Sonya's was very brutal despite having no blood or gore, who cares if it does anyway? I just care if it actually kills them. Catwoman's was something you'd expect from her, nothing bad here. I LOVED Sub-Zero's fatality though, I like it more than his freeze shatter fatality.

I see what you're saying but remember, Midway has to do what DC says for approval reasons so with the finishers that Flash has for example I'd point more fingers personally at DC then the MK team. I mean if you look at Jokers original fatality now(edited thanks to the ESRB system) DC was pretty cool about that and let the MK team do something pretty "nasty" I just think Flash is also one of those characters that you really can't do "much" with. The whole over the top blood gig isn't that big a deal though at this point, everyone knew for months this wouldn't be an "M" rated game so I'm not that concerned honestly. Like you said, gameplay>everything else

Tanya was one of my favorite characters to use in MK4, and she had the neck snap fatality which I thought was pretty weak. I was really hoping for a little more inventive fatalities since they couldn't just rip everyone's heads off... but I don't think they are really that inventive at all. How can you snap someone's neck and kill them, but you can't shoot them in the head? PG-13 movies can have pretty gruesome scenes in it. It seems like the fatalities were one of the last things to add, since in interviews just less than a month ago they weren't sure if they were going to have 1 or 2 fatalities. Hopefully they aren't rushed.

It's really quite simple, yet really annoying...the dumb ESRB stepped in at the last second to **** up Midway/DC's already done Fatalitie's. But that is a good point, that's what I'm saying...look at Raiden's and Sub's fatality...pretty damn Mature and brutal if you ask me, yet they had issues with "Joker's gun fatality"....
