Will the new MK movie stay true to the game? Or will it be Anillhilation
all over again with the underwhelming plot and almost completly fictional
dipiction of the actual mortal kombat story? I would like to believe that they would stay more true to the game by letting the actual story that in the game take more of a place in the movie, including the fatalities. While I realize that they are trying to appeal to the youth as well as adults, the stories in both appear to be almost a watered down disney spectical compared to the actual story that appears in mortal kombat games.
The movies almost try to seem like a high school othello play rather then a gritty realistic(when i say realistic, i mean in the with the story is portraited in the games.)movie about the outworld's invasion of earth.
In Annilhillation, they tried to input both MKII and 3 into the same movie
almost like they were trying to make a movie version of
Mortal Kombat:Trilogy, and ended up with a huge piece of S##t.
They better take their time and try to create a movie where it can still be
some-what kid friendly while keeping its focus on Bringing this classic franchise to Life, the right way. Hopefully some of you agreed with me, but for those who don't; go rent Mortal Kombat Annihillation and watch the first 35 minutes and tell me that its doesn't need to change. I know it wont be nominated for oscars, but damn it can at least be a worthy nomination for the MTV awards!! Please let this be a good movie, please?

I don't think I've ever heard it put better.

Thank you, very much!
It took some time to put in just the right wording, it my not be spelled correctly but i'd like to think people get the gist of it. I hope all can be as understanding as you and not wanna come and kick my @$$ for saying it.

I don't know why anyone would want to kick your ass for stating your opinion. And, from what I've seen, your opinion is shared by just about everyone on this board, so, I wouldn't worry too much.

I think the movie will be better, i hope they learned from anillhilation and are making it way better. So hopefully its something like the first movie and actually good

I hope it is both good to watch and true to the game. You could not have put it in a better way there diddyman. I agree 100%.

dude... mk IS fiction lol

i think it's gonna bite, game movies always do

The question for the topic subject and the question you asked in the poll are different, but either way...

I answered the poll question as better because I think they're actually going to put a little more effort into it this time.

The reply to all replies...........

I sorry for not repliying earlier people, I'am off on the weekend.
As for what everyone put, thank you dissapointed for for your assurence of the non-kicking of my ass, ninjareptile, jeroldo, and fight night for you
hoping for the best for this new MK movie(and the reason that the poll is different from my statement is because my statement is coming from my mind and heart,or spirit or whatever.Anyway I decided to make the poll as general as possible to separate my opinion from others, and let them make a general decision.)And to Goraka and Masta-Dante for the brutal soon to come reality that this too may be a failure of Catwoman, Glitter, and Alexander proportions combined! You know........ I wonder if one movie can actually be three times the failure? I think I'll make a poll on it now...........Right now!

The movie I'm sure will be as good if not better than the first MK. Yes, MKII was a piece of crap and I'm sure they know not to make another junk, therefore giving their best to make the new MK acceptable.

Hi guys... Am a newbie to the forums but just wondering where you get all the info about the new movie (read from some other threads that that even the cast has been confirmed). I went to IMDB.com and they have few details there... Though it'll be nice to see Johnny Cage back again. Honestly I'm not too excited about Robin Shou's acting (or lack of it rather)... Heh...

Well lets see..Both MK and MKA were kinda untrue to the game and it looks like MK3 will be to maybe but hey 3rd time may be a charm.

i hope to see a much better presentation of mk this time around, i vote it will turn out better(crosses fingers). obviously the first movie was decent and the second was godawful, im sure we all agree there, but my biggest beef is this...

first off, most fans of the original game are grown up now, and according to society kid's shouldn't even be playing games like mk(not that i agree with that crap). that being the case, why can't they just make the next movie R rated, and put in the fatalities with all the gruesome reality of the game. after all how different is seeing it in a movie than in a game. on top of which most kids have already seen all the friday the 13th and freddy movies...

second, if they HAVE to pander to kids as well, why can't they just make a violent pg13 kind of thing. there are a lot of movies that aren't R that are pretty violent. and i notice some movies that are R rated i just dont understand, like resident evil apocalypse... what the hell was the R rating for? language? i barely remember any extreme violence.

I think that they are going to put more MK characters in it but ultimately they are going to screw it up. And it is a number of things. For instance you have the director, who (depending who you get) played only priar to filming because he knew he was going to direct a movie a based off it. He wants to go in a different direction with the series.

A great example of this is the Resident Evil movies. You get somebody who wants to go in a different direction in the first film then another director comes along for a sequel, he wants it to be more faithful to the game but thanks to the previous director he is stuck with this annoying character who isn't even part of the origonal storyline.

I think MKA was handled like "We got these many characters, we got to make them fight.... Don't care how just do it" And the acting was so horrible it made me literally cringe. The movie was discouraging to watch. I believe that anyone who watched it would loose interest in the series. I am glad that so many have already played the game.

The third movie has to be on que, over the top. Characters should act the way they would in the game, they should acknowledge hard MK facts and not fictions. Costumes up to date and fit the character well. I hate those character who look like they are wearing pajamas. Acting... Good lord I know its hard, but sheesh don't wing it. Keep the storyline true as you can get it. Most of all get a good director for the love of GOD!!!!!!!!

I agree with this totally. Once you put the rating up to max, then who cares what blood and gore you put in it.

I remember seeing an interview with the creators of south park. They said when they did the south park movie they only agreed to do it if it was R rated so they could put all the bad language they wanted in it and get away with it.
