Why is MKT So Incomplete?

I noticed a lot of obvious content that should have been in Mortal Kombat Trilogy is clearly missing. Some I think I understand why. Others, I do not. First is the fact that this game is called MKT and three backgrounds out of Mortal Kombat 1 are completely gone. The Buda Stage, The Hall of Heroes, and Shang Tsung’s Palace. I can see also that in Kang's Fatality, when the arcade machine of MK1 falls down, Johnny is missing. So, I am guessing that property rights over the original sprites fell apart and Midway had to make a new Johnny, edit all traces out of the old. Sense there is new forms of everyone in the Hall of Heroes except Goro; the original Hall of Heroes would have looked out of place. I still think they should have kept it, maybe re-done it with the new graphics. Take the victory pose of all the new versions of the first seven and make them look like statues. I mean look, they Kept Kahn’s Arena to spite that fact there is no Kano or Sonya. Why didn't they just edit Kahn over top of Shang Tsung in Shang Tsung’s Palace like they did in Kung Fu Part I? Also, there was nothing in the Buda level at all that would warrant it to be edited out. It was one of my favorite levels in MK1. Why did no Buda level return? Also, how come Kitana didn’t get her fan swipe that she had in MK2 when they remade her for UMK3; yet Baraka keeps his blade swipe which is essentially the same programming. Did Midway think they swipes should be taken out of the MK3 line. Or did they just forget that move existed and decided not to photograph sprites for it? Has anyone ever e-mailed Midway on these questions? I would, but they don’t respond to me. Personally, I like the new Johnny Cage better. I love Mortal Kombat Trilogy. I just don’t feel that it is complete because it leaves an excessive amount of content from the older games out. I mean, in all honesty it is a copy-paste project. Aside from Johnny and the menus they didn’t have to create anything new. Why was so much left out? I also think the secret stage from MK3 that you fight Smoke on is gone too. I’m guessing that one is because it had the old towers in the background. Why so much missing when all they had to do was copy and paste???

They had a lot of crap to cram into one one disc/cartridge, so that's probably why so many corners were cut. That doesn't necessarily explain why the PC version didn't have the stuff that the consoles were missing, though (I suppose they just wanted some consistency throughout the CD versions of the game).

Frankly, though, I don't see why you need to bitch about a nearly decade-old game. It's old news, man. And the MK team has cut corners in every game; it's just what they do.

It the game that represents half the of the series. Also, they do cut corners, and that is a very bad practice. I would like them to someday answer why they cut the corners. Far be it for me to care about one of, if not the best, games of the series.

There's nothing wrong with caring about the game, but why only bring it up now when it's already been out for several years?

I think they mainly make cuts due to time constraints. At the very least, they explained that Shaolin Monks was missing a lot of stuff that they just didn't have enough time to finish implementing. If anything, their corner-cutting is going to get even worse in future, since Midway is promising a new MK game every year.

They couldn't fit all that stuff in.

Memory is the key word.

Broken? I don't think so.

Those stages from MK1 weren't important. The stage from MK1 Champion hall would have been hard to pull of due to all those characters poses and that would take a lot of memory.

MK:T wasn't that bad it had enough stages, characters, fatalities, etc.

Plus why are you complaining now? I mean it has been out for at least 10 years... Or close to that...

^Midway doesn't care about old MK games. That is why they didn't respond.

You should worry more about the future of MK games. Hopefully they will get better.

People seem to care a lot about Mortal Kombat II and that's far older. And the Bible is older and people complain about it all the time so don't lecture me on why now. Also, yes, I realize that the corner cutting will get worse in time and that the future games are going to be even more thrown together than the ones we have now; with more bugs and un-answered questions. I didn't say anything was broken. Also, the MK1 levels are too important. Truly, those are the levels that first wowed and impressed people. To claim them un-important is like MK heresy. You're going against the foundation of all things Mortal Kombat. “Memory the key word?” Well, first off, it is on a CD. And CDs had huge amounts of memory. If, on the old CDs space was a concern, they should have deleted a lot of MK3 levels. Most of the MK3 levels, by more people's standards than the MK1 levels, where out of place. How many street levels where there? This is MK not SF. If you want to play favorites, let us bring back Buddha and delete the bridge level with the stupid paper blowing and annoying wind. "The twister the twister!" I want to freaking scream every time that level comes up. And it would not have been hard at all to make a new Hero Hall. You just make it a layer in the background with the new graphics. No harder than any other background at all. Pardon me for wanting to talk about an old Mortal Kombat game in the Mortal Kombat Classic forum, stupid me. I forgot to not read the sign.... Darn me and my old fashioned common sense of placing the questions about an old MK game in the forum called "KOMBAT CLASSICS" rather than the forum for the new games. I was clearly thinking too clearly, notice my "too" has two "o"s because it is "too" as in also not "to" as in going to. But, far be it for me to use proper grammar. I mean, hey, at least pheonix remembered to capitalize the first letter and place a punctuation mark at the end.... You sicken me!

WOAW, DeathCore already established all of that.

Midway doesn't care about old games? Let's get something clear. When a company is making a game, It's not old. That takes place well after the game design. So how can they care about something before they can possibly do it? I'll tell you how. MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES! Where have you been? Iraq? They already have 5 different versions of this and everything on them are "old games"

Take out the MK3 Levels? MK Trilogy was basicly an upgrade form MK3. So why would they take them out? That would just be another thing to make the earlier versions better and MKT would have less sales.

...........Oh, sorry. I thought we were in the chaos realm section.

I would blame N64 for this, since it could fit so little. They were probably told not to put too much stuff on the PSX/PC version because it would make the N64 version look even worse then it did.

PSX and PC versions have identical content (with a few tiny exceptions) and graphical quality, its just that they continued to update gameplay for the PSX but not for the PC so the PSX ended up having a final version with better quality gameplay. The PC/PSX version was about 90 megs without music. The N64 version was about 12 megs with the music (there were earlier versions that were 16 megs but I don't know if any of those were ever sold or if they were developer copies).

Also, some levels from MK1 would probably just look terrible if ported over. The Gates (aka the Buddha Level) and the Garden honestly look heinous. They are very muddy and the graphics just ended up looking weird. With the MK1 characters in front that didn't make a big difference, but I think they would look terrible in MKT. Characters like Sonya, Johnny Cage, the Ninjas, all looked pretty bad. Kano still looks bad, which I imagine is why they redid his ending pose and heartrip fatality frames, creating new frames for MKT because the original ones from MK1 looked so bad (or maybe they just wanted to make him very happy when he ripped the heart out).

This is the year 2006-1996=10 years without counting months. So about 10 years... Time has passed fast.

Ok. Disk carry huge amounts of data.

But it takes time another key word. Time=Memory Times 5 divided by two.

I remember seeing MK:DA thing. It took one day just to establish a few fatalities, and etc.

I'm sorry I thought the TC was complaining. My bad.

I'm also sorry if I have bad grammar. But I'm NOT going to waste five minutes to put you're instead of your, you should have the brain power to process what I mean if I mess up.

Still Midway has hardly ever time to release a game with everything quite... "Perfect."

Due to time issues. I mean MK3 didn't it come out in 1995? So 1996 was about a year away, or less on which month.

Ok the Bible is completely different.

First many religions have different beliefs in their own "bibles" thus it is able to be discussed/fought over since there are over millions of versions. Are there 1M different versions of MK:T/UMK3/MK3? No not in difference . Only by how many were produced. So you can't compare the two. Thus I win that part.

Midway only cares about aspects of certain parts of older games. Not the older game itself. The reason for Midway Collection 1, 2, 3 EP, etc. Is a quick way to make money to continue their projects on games. Since mainly MK is Midway's best money-making series. *I know again they make other games just saying*

Now does anyone want to be a critic of the above said? because I didn't even post everything I could have.
