Violence brings Violence ?

Australia has banned the game because it's to violent right ?

The full game hasn't been released yet, but judging from the demo and the other footage available, does Australia have a point in banning it from their country?

Do these type of games/images encourage violence in society?

Opinions?

No, violence is something linked to people personality .....
I saw Jaws and all Friday the 13th movies, along with The Exorcist, when I was 8, and I never ripped out someone else spinal column because of this exposion to violence, hehe !

XD :D

No, it's been proven that violent games actually make a person less violent in real life. Their a good stress revealer and it lets you do what you can't in real life.

If all you need is the depiction of violence to spur you to commit atrocious acts, there's something wrong with you to begin with. I can see games being an outlet more than a reason to be violent. Instead of doing them in real life, you do them on a game where nobody gets hurt.

The press is starting to drift away from that theory and are now stating that it "desensitises" kids to violence. What they don't say is how it actually affects people's actions in real life or the fact the violent crimes were more popular back before the video game erra. Put it this way, I've played violent games as far as I can remember and no video game ever prepared me for seeing someone who was actually killed in real life (seen some nasty accidents and a suicide). Every normal person should see the difference between real and fake and affect them accordingly. In the end, I think its just a finger to point for parents who cant raise their kids right or lawyers trying to defend a scumbag.

Lets try to stay on topic eh ?

well aernt we talking about australia here? theyre banning mortal kombat because they dont want to increase the agressive behavior of their population. have you ever seen an angry kangaroo? they jump everywhere and box like mike tyson

I'm sort of embarrassed to admit that I don't know which one, but wasn't a MK game banned here in the USA before? Or like had some type of restriction back in the day ? WOW.....I must be getting old....LOL

I think MK1 had some sort of Restriction or at least some censored ports but times have changed from then.

I've been playing violent video games since I was very young and I am actually a mild mannered, very kind and gentle person. Admittedly, I do have sort of an ugly side when someone wrongs me or shows blatant disrespect for me or someone I care about but playing violent video games didn't give me that. Narrow inconsiderate self-centered idiots in society did! =D Still I would never wish to harm anyone physically unless they were expressingly about to harm me first.

If someone plays a game like Mortal Kombat or GTA and goes out with intent to harm others or reinact the same kind of violence, then it's likely that they were sociopaths to begin with and were eventually going to do something irrational regardless of whether or not they had video games to influence them.

Hehe, seriously though if someone plays a game like Mortal Kombat or GTA and goes out with intent to harm others or reinact the same kind of violence, then it's likely that they were sociopaths to begin with and were eventually going to do something irrational regardless of whether or not they had video games to influence them.

This is the type of detailed responses I'm looking for people....thank you

No, it was never banned.

I agree with you, I've been playing violent games like MK, GTA, God of War since I first got my PS2, and I don't even like to kill an ant, talk about ripping someone's head off! I'm not violent at all, rarely angry, I actually think these violent games make me feel better, because they're a way to satisfy my sadistic, violent side, which I think everyone has, even if it's not much.

I think parents and politicians say violent games increase violent for them not to admit the violence is actually their fault. If your kid play violent games, they should know that's not something you can do in real life. As his/her father/mother, you certainly should tell your kid what is right and what is wrong. If he/she understand this, there's no problem in letting them play violent games, because they know they should not and will not do this in real life. If the kid does not understand this, a violent game is not gonna make them any more violent. The same applies to politicians and society.

It's ridiculous how they think the MK game will set a bad reputation on kids or on people. Violence has been going on since for a long time and I can't think of one game that had people got out and start a rampage because they thought they were so and so from a video game. It's Ok to play Modern Warfare, Kill Zone, etc., but not play a fighting game that has blood, hacking bodies too pieces, and so on. So are they going to say people want to join the military because they played Black Ops or say someone got shot because of the game. Violence is not comitted because of a game.
The difference between the old games vs. the newer generation is the technology. Now games are more in depth, more of a realistic view and so on.
