Tourney idea for the 20th Anniversary of MK1 on consoles....

2013 marks the 20th Anniversary of MK1 coming out on home consoles.
Since NRS didn't do anything for the anniversary of MK1 on arcades last year, I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a fun tournament for the 20th year anniversary on PS3 (I don't have a 360. Sorry).
I've never done a tournament set-up, so I'm clueless on how that would actually go down.
If anyone wants to help with that, that would be cool.


The idea I had was to do an MK9 tourney of the MK1 era.
Meaning, using only MK1 characters in MK1 arenas.

So, basically:

(Technically it's not an MK1 stage, but it's supposed to be an intermediary stage, replacing MK1 The Warrior Shrine)

Anyways, it's just a fun idea that I had in mind.

Feel free to add suggestions. ;)
 
Why not just play arcade collection? You are limiting stages and characters are you going to force them to just use Scorpion spear and uppercut or Sub-Zero's ice ball uppercut??? Limiting fatalities to just classics? honestly Kano is the only character that can be played like the classic effectively.

P.S. you should add Reptile since he was "in" the game.

I never said to limit how to play the characters.
YOU said that.

I just stated doing an MK1 type tourney in MK9, with MK1 characters, as a nod to the original MK1 console release.
 
But why do that when there is MKAK? That would be the right thing right??? I mean as a nod to the old you are going to play a completely different game when it was actually ported from the original cabinets??? Why?
 
Well, then, never mind.
Maybe I can have a mod close the thread if it seems that ridiculous and stupid.
 
lol not saying that either.... I think it would be a great idea to hold a tourny - but if its on mk9 then go full roster, that's all -- otherwise MKAK is the way to go.
 
1) MK1 on the MKAK doesn't have the speed and fluidity that MK9 has as far as game-play goes.
2) The reason I decided to go with the MK1 roster on MK9 was due to the 20th Anniversary of MK1.

If it was a regular tourney that I would have had in mind, then yeah, full roster is no problem.
I get the feeling that others wouldn't like this idea either, so forget that I even mentioned it.
Maybe it's best to just have the thread closed or just let it die out.
