To be or not to be.....Reptile?

Ok, can't figure this it out. I already completed Konquest and I am going back through it to get some keys, etc. What's with Reptile? A lady told me that he going through some kind of "change". I bumped into him and all he says is "Leave me be!". So what do you all think??
 
Reptile always says "Leave me be" until you do Shao Kahn's 2 Quests. He asks you to speak with Reptile - at that point Reptile actually talks to you - but then he goes back to saying "Leave me be" after the quest is completed.

As for him changing. If you remember at the end of MK:DA, he is the vessel/body for the Dragon King. Beat the game with Sindel and it explains it all in detail.
