It's a useless reference. The same source says Raiden kills Kintaro... Regardless, things in this new game will go differently. Obviously because there is a big possibility Raiden will fight Shao Kahn during the events of MKII and I don't think it's necessarily the result of time distortion, but just a minor re-write in the story. Regardless, even the article itself doesn't know for sure

I would not call it easily. This is an Edenian warrior we're talking about. Why should he expect her to betray him at this point after MKIII, after all Earthrealm has done to help Edenia, especially Kang himself? However, Liu Kang's relationship with Kitana regarding MKII is a whole other story... at this point, we don't even know anything about her except to be a cold, distant and deceptive assassin of Shao Kahn. I would say Kang has no reason to trust Kitana and to take everything she says with a grain of salt; also considering his main motivation is revenge at this point.

Regardless, it's not canon and things are being portrayed differently in this new game.
 
...Ok, I got nothing.

But anyway, Kitana's updated bio has not been released yet, but I guess she'll once again side with the good guys, especially if we take into account that she turned out to be the main female hero in the series span.

Now... suppose she is, in fact, aware of her true heritage (MK 2011 wise). If that were to happen, then I don't see a reason for her to have bad blood with Kang, since she will obviously try to help the heroes to overthrow Kahn.
 
Why do people keep saying this? It's not relevant!

It's not actually known if people will come back this time, so it doesn't matter what happened in the past.
 
Honestly... I see no reason why this wouldn't happen. Don't you think it's possible that Liu Kang wasn't a complete fool and was also not willing to initially accept some random servant of Shao Kahn's "supposed alliance"?

Just think about how much drama this would add between the two characters.

I'm not saying Kang would end up killing Kitana or ever even developing a relationship for that matter. However, you can't expect that Kang will just go in and suddenly forgive and trust one of those responsible for killing his entire family.

In fact, I think this emotional angst and humanity expressed between these two will make the relationship feel all the more real and interesting. It would be part of Kitana's guilt of her past of ruthlessly murdering in the name of Shao Kahn. Kang's sorrow would be one of the tipping points of her to desire and pursue redemption and pay her sins.

I think it would be an awesome twist on the development of their relationship.

You're making the story seem a lot deeper than it really is. I honestly don't think the MK writing crew has a good understanding of this sort of thing. Things tend to be Black, White and one shade of Gray.

Believe me, though... I'd love to see an MK game in which the story and characters are dissected like that.
 
You mean MK9 that hasn't happened yet?

I think MK: Shaolin Monks reflects some kind of interest in pointing out that even thought-to-be close allies have some kinds of negative views of each other that can be twisted and distorted into something to be manipulated by the story tellers to potentially increase the much needed drama of the story.

I can't really speak for MK9, no... But I don't exactly see Ed Boon turning into a fantastic story teller any time soon. If ever.
 
That is true, but I doubt he has much say in the development. You think those bigwigs have the time to think up the story themselves? It's always the little guys who contribute the big ideas and get no credit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've been looking on the forums and taking random ideas from other sites.
