Sub-Zero as a favorite (and best) character

BANALITY
Sub-Zero's been my favorite (and best) character since Deadly Alliance. But since the new game turned him into a robot (which I didn't really agree with), and then made him Quan Chi's undead slave, I've been going through a war as to who should be my new favorite. I've narrowed the decisions down, so it'd be easier for you guys to help me settle this:

1 - Should Sub-Zero remain my favorite character of all time despite what happens to him in the new game?
2 - Should Sub-Zero remain my favorite character in the classic games, then pick a new favorite character for the new games?
3 - Should I just abandon Sub-Zero and pick a new favorite character altogether? Preferably Scorpion, Cage, or Kano
 
If Sub-Zero has been your favorite since Deadly Alliance who was your favorite in Mk1 through Mk4 or did you not play these games? If noy you missed out big time.
 
Do you think they're just going to forget about Ninja Sub-Zero in the next MK? Fanbase would be pissed. And in the next game, since he's dead n' all, I think he'll be revived as a human.
 
Prior to Deadly Alliance, I just button-mashed with Liu Kang. But after Deadly Alliance came out, I started playing MK for real. So I went back and made Sub-Zero my favorite throughout the classic series.

He's without a doubt my best character in every game before the new game. Even though I'm good with him in that game as well, I didn't agree with his fate, which is why I made this thread.

And FTR, I've been playing MK since 1993.
 
After much deliberation, I've decided to take Choice #3 and pick Scorpion as my favorite character of all time.

Because Scorpion's the poster boy of MK, I'll have a much happier time having him as my favorite than have a heart attack trying to defend my fondness for Human Sub-Zero. Plus, I'm starting to get to a pretty good level with Scorpion throughout the entire MK series (the only game I'm having trouble with him in is MKII, but I'll eventually pull it off).

Can I be the one to point out taht "Favorite of All Time" doesn't apply to you if you abandoned Sub when he basically needed you most? Your not a "fan of All Time" for Scorpion, because you would have liked him right off the bat if you were....
 
I'd say stick it out. I'd be suprised if Sub Zero didn't find a way back to human form in the next game. However I've kinda had the same problem lately. You see, Raiden has been my favorite character since MK1. Mainly at first because of my love of the movie Big Trouble In Little China. But as the MK series has progressed over the years I've realized he's not really the same Raiden I knew from MK and MKII. Seriously, go back and play the first MK and you'll see a Raiden that doesn't seem to care about protecting earth. His ending even has him inviting other gods to participate in the tournament, causing earth's demise. The Raiden I came to know as my fav MK character wasn't really a good guy. He was more neutral but leaning toward evil. I remember seeing the first MK movie and being disappointed in how Raiden was treated. But then it was like direction Raiden in the MK games took after Raiden in the movie. Wasn't a fan of Dark Raiden either. Too mentally unstable and a bad dresser. Well.........until now that is. The look Dark Raiden has in MK 2011 is his best look ever. In fact I kinda hope in the next games story mode that Dark Raiden makes a permanent return. Heck, I'd even be ok w/ Dark Raiden becoming the main villian of the MK games. So yeah, that's my Raiden rant and I apologize if it got off topic but I too am struggling w/ my fav MK character of nearly 20 yrs.
 
SubZero will be human again, they cant make a game without Subzero in his original form. That game would be an epic fail.

Also if you are loyal to your favourite character, he will be still your favorite.
Hi is my main and favourite and I think he is the best and i hate his cyborg form too, hope he turns human again in the next game, im sure he will.
 
I always discover, sooner or later, who my greatest character is in every fighting game, and it's always the hard way.

I found out the hard way that Sagat was my greatest character in Street Fighter, and now the exact same thing has happened with Mortal Kombat...

AFTER NUMEROUS TRIALS AND DELIBERATIONS, I NOW DECLARE SUB-ZERO MY ALL-TIME GREATEST MORTAL KOMBAT CHARACTER.

I perform better with him in every MK game I play, and he's the one character I have little to no trouble beating Mortal Kombat II with. His future looked bleak in the new game, but now I feel more than ever that he will return in his original state in the next game onward.

P.S. To all those "Cyber Sub-Zero is better than Human Sub-Zero" soothsayers: He actually isn't.
And this should prove it once and for all...
 
Keeping your all-time favorite as your current favorite is a really good idea, anyway that doesn't mean you can't get better with another character at the same time.

For my part, I HAD to choose somebody to get good as because in my young time Rain was my favorite character ( Mind Control Orb in MK9 hopefully! ) and he evidently isn't in the game. I'm pretty sure he'll be added in later as DLC, but I still had to develop bonds with new characters that I didn't know much about or some that intrigued me before. SO I started using Smoke and Sektor, who are my two mains in MK9, and I'm starting to be good with Kabal and Nightwolf.

So if you were to have problems gameplay-wise with Sub, you can always choose a second character for now and if it's story-wise, well only time will tell what Subby's fate will be in MK10.
 
You have too look at it this way, in MK Sub Zero is always involved.

He is in every game and he's always part of the main faction. It's ironic how you pick scorpion as your new character seeing as how he's always being thrown under the bus and being killed off in most of his endings.
 
kung lao should be your favorite, i never really favored him till this game, nothing wrong with his past appearances, but i personally didnt like him to much, but now....boy is he great ;)
hes a combo machine.
 
Well if anything i would stick with sub zero, because after all you dont have to play as his cyber form, you can just play as his regular form in multiplayer or in ladder or tag ladder or whatever.
