Stupid question about changing colors.

So I was playing the arcade version of umk3 the other day and I pressed a button on the character select screen. Then all of a sudden when I scrolled through the characters they were wearing diff colors. I think the colors were if it were for player 2. Anyone know how to do that? I searched and couldn't find out how the heck I did that.

I did have both human players on the character select screen and picked first with player 2 if that had anything to do with it.
