For those confused on the timing, here is a guide with pictures. In the picture will be the moment you will want to press the B button again. Pictures taken with my phone, but they do the job. Note that the first grab will always be the same timing. Usually between the two hits.

Just after Grundy grabs them in the air.

Spoiler:

Input the directions right when Grundy starts lifting them up, and press B before they are fully raised into the air.

Just after the first slam, when they are in the air above Grundy's head.

In between the two hits, at the peak of the bounce from the first hit.
