Amazing what we can find on Google. Lol

I have a Network Adaptor fitted to my PS2, man. Just like the one shown below.

The Network Adaptor itself retails for about $40 US. Users must provide their own Internet service (if you already have an ISP for use with your home computer, chances are pretty good your PS2 can use this ISP as well.)

Most games do not require any subscription or addtional fees to play online (besides the initial cost of just buying the game itself). You should never need to provide your credit card number or any of your personal information. Some games may impose a charge or subscription fee. While no games released today have any fees, there are a few (such as Final Fantasy XI) which are likely to require an addtional fee.

Unlike the Microsoft XBox, which requires a subscription for online gameplay and forces all games to use a central gaming network, there is no central network for the PlayStation 2, nor is there any extra service subscription requirement. Sony does not impose any strict standards on their game developers. But... this also means that an independent game software developer could choose to install their own game servers and impose a fee for playing their particular online game.

you could spend 40 dollars but odds are you can find a used one at gamestop or any other game retail store for less than $20. my gamestop sells them for $14.99 .

Yeah, especially if you work that job you told us about, dude. I'd go for a new one myself, but that's just me. Just make sure if you do pickup a second hand PS2 NA, that's working properly. And get a receipt. I highly doubt that you will get more than 3 months warranty on a second hand unit. But hey, as long as it works then who gives a flying Panda.

Edit: Jinko told me that you can also pick these up dirt cheap on EBAY. I wouldn't know, I never go there.
