Premium Editions and Australia

Does anyone know if the premium editions of MKA be availabl in Australia? I want to see the special videos etc that are bein released with them.

I do know that there were no premium releases of MKD here. Its almost like America is the only country that ever gets anything like this. Do Midway only respect american fans or something? I think its incredibly arrogant of them to assume noone outside the USA would wat any of the extras.

Ok, this may offend you chief, but I couldn't resist....

Six words: TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE WORTH IT.

Six more words: AUSTRALIA IS PAL, AMERICA IS NTSC

Six more words again: AUSTRALIAN PLAYSTATIONS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NTSC

Clearly, its not difficult to convert from NTSC to PAL when the games are being made, so theres no excuse not to release the premium here. Oh and the issue about the compatibility it the same for the Xbox

And just because I can't afford to import a copy of the premium which I will never even be able to use, doesn't mean I don't have the right to have the premium also. Just because I am not an american and don't live in that country also does not mean I don't have the right.

Am I wrong?

They did screw over the pal version of shoalin monks by not putting mk2 in it so I'm not in the least bit surprised they're gonna do the same with armageddon. And as far as respect go they respect mostly money and thats mostly gonna come from the NTSC zones so there u are don't hold your breath. (also an aussie)

Importing is not as expensive as it seems. Certain websites can give you great deals. All you need is a chip for your PAL PS2 and you can play the import version.

Precisely, but I didn't want to showoff by explaining in detail to aussiecam all of what you just outlined. Thanks, you saved me the effort, dude.

Just for the record, the PAL Xbox version of Shaolin Monks has MK2. But are we talking PS2 only here?
I have MKSM' on my XBOX and there's no MKII. It shows the game in the sub menu but you can't highlight and play it. And, yes, I have completed the entire game. Dunno about the PS2 version, dude. Which version do you own?

Chief, I apologise for my assiness. I assumed youwere a rich yank who thought the entire world worked the same way as there.

Importing is not really an option for me.

Firstly, chips are illegal.
Secondly, I can't even find a chip or someone to install it for me, and not being an electritan, I'm not prepared to risk ruining my PS2 if I were to find one.

They are illegal?

Kona's definition of illegal (I do not condone illegal activities, this is a joke): It is only illegal if you get caught my friend ;).

I thought mod chips were legal.

Dude, listen to ChiefThunder. He knows EXACTLY what to do. He lives in Australia, and imports games. Out of anyone on these boards I think he knows best.

Thanks, but I wasn't offended, dude. I sometimes wish I was a rich Yank, as you put it. And I have been all to aware how the entire gaming region issue works, and for far too long. Seeing as the whole modding issue is not an option for you. Then Importing is worth it if you really want something badly enough. I once paid $50 for a DVD set that I wanted, when I found out it will never ever be released in Australia.

The Freddy Kruger DVD box set with all the goodies.

Funny idea, dude. One of my pals once told me that it isn't illegal to go through a red traffic light if there weren't any other cars or anyone ever around. For example, like at 3 am in the morning. Boy, was he wrong. Lol.

Yes, the whole Modding and chipping issue is ILLEGAL. Funny thing is, in the past it has boosted hardware sales because people buy their sytems then get them chipped. This was the case with the Sony PSX.

Thanks, but I wouldn't make any claims to knowing best about most things. I am simply clued in to certain issues. And this happens to be one of them. But the bottom line is that Modding and/or Chipping promotes Piracy. Therefore, it kills the industry slowly but surely. That much you can be sure of.

yeah i imported the MKD premium edition and its worth every cent, but www.davesmk.com is saying there will b a pal version of MKA weather its true or not is another thing.
You would think they would make it available 4 the rest of the world seeing its the last MK for current gen systems.

I don't trust Daves MK much though. They said they had the last secret for MKD. Does everyone remember that turned out to be bs.

...chips are illegal.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they're legal. They are for "backup purposes." However, they WILL void any kind of warranty you may have on your console, so if your PS2 screws up, you can't send it to Sony.

I've got an easy way to fix that, tho. ...AND you can do it without potentially ruining your system.

There are some different software packages you can get as well, from hdd enablers (let you use any USB hdd on your PS2) to MP3 players.

Just a suggestion.

Modchips are illegal in any shape or form here in Australia, dude. I don't know about overseas, but they are officially illegal here. Modding or the more popular term of chipping is now illegal due to people burning their own software [games] and using a modded console to play them. You are referring also to soft mods which negate any waranty issues on consoles. The Dreamcast was a classic example due to its OP. You could play any backup game simply by using a boot disc before popping in your game. No hardware modification at all was necessasry. Later the DC games were available with the boot programm already included in each game, so this was pirates heaven, so to speak.

The 360 soft mod is old now and the same story applies to this system. Although the software backup requires DVD dual layer media. I do have a 200 HDD on my PS2, but that is so I can play my games straight off it and therefore saving my DVD rom lasers which are shit and cost alot to replace. Sony makes there hardware servicable with replacement costs in mind so the average gamer who even plays their console for the normal amount of hours still has to fork out sometimes big dollars to repair their system, mainly the laser assembly. Which by the way Sony claims that the PS2 laser under normal usage lasts for 7 years!

BS~! Lol
