PC version of Mortal Kombat 9...

Anyone knows how can i start new game in story mode??
I can't believe they didn't make this possible.

Sad thing there's no such option. After I've finished story mode I anticipated there will be a chapter select screen but no, you have to do the whole thing again if you want to replay your favourite parts. It's no biggie for me as I've enjoyed most chapters but it was still a bit of a letdown to see.

Sadly but most developers think this way nowadays. That why we have so many games that you can finish no effort. I'am not even interested in new games anymore. :(
Have you defeated 3 Shao Khans in a single life in challenge tower ?

Haha well I've not skipped a challenge before but I'm sure I'll skip that one if I can't choose my character because the only char so far I can kick SK's ass with without struggling is Kenshi.

As for the first part of your comment I don't think I understand what you mean but I'm sure as hell appreciating how accessible the game is in a casual fashion. I like that I can blast through the ladder on medium difficulty with a character I barely know because I'd like to see the ending even if I'm not interested in mastering said combatant. As a comparison in SF4 you have to know the basics of your chosen character even on easy difficulty if you want to beat the Rival and boss matches and there are some characters you can't start with if you're new to the game because their mechanics are just too hard for a beginner. For example I kick the AI's ass with Gouken but let me choose Vega and I can lose the second fight on medium. :D

As for Shao Kahn what really bothers me is that he's not smart, he's not agile, he's just like a "bullet sponge" type of enemy in an FPS. In MK2 he did not have a super huge health meter but he could still kick the shit out of you if you couldn't figure him out.

And again LAAAAG.

it drives me crazy knowing what the other player will do and seeing that my block takes about 1 second to activate :(, This is the worst part of all this lag not that most of my comboses sems to "NOT WORK". I think its also a error in the program, the way block works when mashing other buttons. BLOCK MUST HAVE PRIORITY. Its not because the Keyboard can't deal with mashing buttons ( worked perfectly fine in trilogy ). I am mesmerized how a kano knive spammer can kick my ass :(.

And why do you say that if a player has lag the other one has also. Seems to me that most of the time i see a spamer they have far better latency than me.

Soo. back at the HUGE BLOCK PROBLEM or thats how i see it.
Before every animation/button is activated the PC waits for the previos animation to end. Thats the problem with block also. IT should not have a WAIT time to activate.

Most of the times im mashing butons to try to get a harpoon or just to make the other player believe that. Sometimes he is to close to me and jumps towards me. I instantly press block and guess what :(; by the time he gets a foot in my mouth block doesnt activate :(.

Back in Trilogy it used to work, cause you were most probably using an old mechanical type of keyboard with no ghosting back then.

I have mk trilogy instaled now and works same way. Its a version for windows vista / 7

I am not 100% sure but i think Street Fighter4 works with insta block also, only MK9 has this problem

Why would you uppercut him 20 times if you can punish him with a full combo when his feet are on the ground? You can also punish him with a combo that starts with an anti-air when he jumps to do his shoulder charge.

Just watched a full combo with Kenshi on Youtube and I have to ask you something: are you nuts? :D I couldn't do that with an Xbox 360 controller if I was practicing my whole life! :DDD Tried to do a 10 hit combo in training mode and it just didn't work, there's no way I could learn to time the hits so I could do that combo all the time. Doing combos that do more than 30% damage is not easy, I'm proud of myself if I can do one that does 20-25%. :D

Keep training, I'm not a Kenshi player, but his combos are fairly easy to do.

Watch my combo video with Smoke if you haven't yet, you can do those too if you're willing to invest more time in the game.

About the la again :)

So i noticed something. When i play ranked game most of the games have 0 lag. So whats thte ideea behind it?

- Does the program search for the best connection until it finds it ?
- Do Ranked Games take place on another server ? more powerfull and with abetter connection ?

What do you guis think

You've just been lucky. Whether you're gonna experience lag is based on both the stability of your connection, the connection of the other person, both of your bandwidths, the amount of stress on both CPUs/GPUs ( if they can handle the game without dropping below 60 at all times, that won't be a factor ), and of course - the latency between the two nodes ( you and the opponent ). Whenever I play with people from my country, that have nice PCs, the matches are virtually lagless - the only annoyance is the occasional session drop, nothing else.

The thing is I have a very hard time dashing with the analog stick so most of the time I just drop the combo when I have to do that. I don't like how hard even some special moves are with the stick, because of this the only way I can do Liu Kang's bicycle kick is by using the D-Pad which is of course worthless on a 360 pad.

Anway the more I play the more mistakes I notice in the fighting mechanics. Tried out Noob Saibot and I just started laughing when I saw that one of his most effective moves (the one where he graps you and takes you through a black hole) is done by pressing down and up. It's not a surprise that most players online just spam that with Noob which is of course extremely frustrating. :D The other weird thing is that you can do 7-8 hit combos with Liu Kang extremely easily: there is a 3 button combo that leaves the opponent juggling so you can just repeat it two times and you've just done 30% damage. :D Why weren't these things fixed?

*Round 1*
*Shitty, unresponsive controls once again*
Haha, not this time, NRS/HVS.
*Switches games*

Yeah, these God awful controls really killed this game for me. All of the advanced combos I've learned are flushed down the toilet because of this. Not to mention the wonky collisions and the annoying sound issues. If anyone is considering to get this game while playing on a keyboard, DO NOT DO IT.

ZaxxerDog, what's wrong with our D-Pad?

For some weird reason, my Logitech controller D-Pad doesn't register diagonals. So I have to jump furward/backward with the analog stick which is very annoying. Do diagonals work for you?

I hope you talk about MP here, cuz SP works perfect.
What do you mean by awful controls ?
Wonky collisions ? Explain this plz.
I tried playing on gamepad, but keyboard is much better it reminds arcade stick much more than a tiny gamepad. I don't see a reason to use gamepad, when there are no circles or double circles like in SF4.

After a few attempts, I am now fairly confident that I have identified the reason behind the "Out of memory" error.

If a person has disabled the Steam voice chat manually by editing the options.ini entry "steam_voice", they WILL get this error, if they play a person that has NOT done the same thing. Both opponents should disable that value in order to avoid the error.

Well this region lock thing is rather annoying. Had some great matches. Than a few not so great with lag depending on what arena we played on. Then just tried to play against Shredder, only to find we can't play because we're in different regions? That's absolutely ridiculous. I really hope that gets taken out. Not expecting it though.

How did you try playing with Shred? Via a private match setting, inviting him using your Steam friends list, or by meeting in an online room? Online rooms are outrageously ineffective at this point, I only play with people from my friends list. I have played with BuGeris, who is from Lithuania, and I am in Bulgaria - most definitely not the same region. Shredder is Greek, so that is not really a fair example - he is practically my neighbor ( Greece lies just south of Bulgaria ).

I also played with ZaxxerDog, and he is Hungarian - I guess that classifies as Central Europe, not Eastern Europe. All of those were done via the Private Match option.

Best games so far were done with another Bulgarian last night - he disabled the voice chat in options.ini, and he had a direct LAN connection ( no firewalls or routers of any kind - just like me ). 4 or 5 hours of absolutely LAGLESS, FLAWLESS gameplay - no session drops AT ALL. Literally zero. I couldn't believe it. We played in the afternoon and in the evening as well. Utterly perfect. He also has a top-notch machine to handle the game, of course, but still, I was amazed how well it went.

We tried private match, inviting through Steam as well as online rooms. None of them worked.

I've played some games with other people. In the online room I had a great experience. Private matches seemed to be hit and miss depending on the stage. I haven't touched any .ini files. I removed Freddy and the opening WB/NR movies but that's it. Also I am connected through powerline to my router which is the best I can do. It's the next best thing to a LAN connection.

My machine is also i5 3570, 8GB Ram, GTX 660 Ti. I'm not maxing the game, but it's fairly close. I was actually surprised to see the auto settings weren't maxed, but I don't mind, I'd rather the frame rate.

You're not maxing the game with THAT machine?! I am maxing the game without a single hitch with a i5-2500k, 8 gigs of RAM, and a GTX 670.

Do not use the automated bullcrap for graphic settings - set it up on your own. There is NO WAY you won't be able to run it flawlessly at max settings.

The automated video detection is total crap. Don't ever use that.

What he said. I'm on an FX 8350 with 8 GB, 660 Ti and I use it maxed out, and even with 3D Vision enabled framerate never drops from 60.
