PAX Prime 2014 Impressions

This first article doesn't really reveal anything new besides that for PAX, the demo has the X-Ray Meter full at all times. Wish they would've announced MKX before PAX tickets went on sale...

This second article goes a little more in-depth which differentiates this preview from others. Confirms (unless it changes by release) that a fighters Special Move attiributes can be affected by which Variation is chosen as well. So Scorpions spear could have more start-up in one Variation versus another etc...

Just good to hear even more praise from people getting their initial hands-on with MKX.

Best Impressions by far!

In the first article you've posted, I've found an interesting description about Raiden:

"I had a chance to try my hand at nearly every character, and outside of Ferra and Torr, I enjoyed returning shock-master Raiden the most. One of his special abilities has him frying foes and subsequently tossing them skyward, well above the clouds in a strikingly impressive visual sequence. Once behind the cover of a stormy night, Raiden relentlessly electrocutes the opponent, causing him to scream in pain before falling to his death. Except he really just loses some health, because it’s Mortal Kombat."

Is that a second X-Ray or something?

I think they changed it. The one that we have seen in Raiden's trailer was probably repaced by this one. I doubt that there's different x-rays for different variation (however that would be kickass).

Boon said there will be no variations of X-Rays to MKTether. They changed Raiden's.

Raiden's X-ray sounds great. Overall, I like every X-ray, except Sub-Zero's which I feel it's lacking somehow... My favourite so far I'd say it's Kano's, very brutal.

At this point i would like more new information then character reveals. Gameplay is always good but show different gameplay not the same ol. I understand they want to reveal little by little but give us alil more than what has been constantly repeated. Don't get me wrong i still want the game and for the most part can't wait but they can do a better job at keeping us at the edge of our seats.

I'm not quite as stoked by the description of Raiden's new X-Ray attack.

It sounds cool but I hope they don't go overboard with the cinematic presentation of some of the X-Rays. While I do agree Raiden deserves an X-Ray Attack befitting a god, I don't want the X-Rays to be even longer and more drawn out than they were in the last MK. I liked X-Ray attacks because they were quick and brutal strikes. I don't want them to become as grandiose as the Super Moves in Injustice.

P.S. I also added a couple more links to the original post!

Probably because it's essentially the same x-ray he had in Mk9. And I agree with Kano's being the best. I only dislike how the opponent magically flies back from getting their neck broken in a headlock. Always thought a gentle fall or some sort of slam would end it. Also wondering how Kano's X and Fat's going to work on a big guy like Tora.

kano's is by far my favorite as well. I agree with you though, i thought it was weird that the opponent flies or was thrown back. After he snapped their spine, i was sure he was gonna either finish them off;

Sub Zero's X-ray is awful. It was bad in MK9 as well.

I mean, he's ripping out your insides and then stabbing you with it. I mean, in theory that sounds kinda cool. But it looks retarded. He never leaves a huge gaping hole in your body after he does it. Or in MK9 when he freezes and crushes whatever it was he crushed.... Again, no giant hole where his hand entered your body. lol

Scorpion's spear never left a hole.
Liu Kang's fireball never charred anybody.
Reptile's acid hasn't dissolved anybody's skin mid match.

So this isn't new.

Yeah but for a big cinematic feature like X-rays, you'd think they would go into a little more detail. I mean, Sub Zero just reaches into the opponent's body as though they had absolutely nothing covering their insides.

You could make that argument of any xray attack though. You never see anyone with visible compound fractures after xrays despite them being CLEARLY induced by their opponents.
