Maybe you think it isn't relevant because you're too dense to get it.
The rating is based ON OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS OF WHAT A KID SHOULD AND SHOULDN'T PLAY. They can slap a goddamn M on anything they want, that doesn't mean a kid shouldn't play it. The rating system was put there because of p*ssy parents who want to cry over every little thing. 'Maturity level' is subjective. Based on some of the posts you make here, it's safe to say that there are quite a few younger members more mature than you are. See how that works?
Telling someone what they should/shouldn't be able to play based on their age is just being an idiot. If they want to put a sticker on it that says 'blood/guts/gore', cool, but this 'you have to be *insert age* to play this game' is stupid. You don't have to be any certain age to play an MK game. If you are smart and mature and know it is just a game, your age shouldn't even matter. Parents just assume that a kid seeing fatalities = he'll go outside and mutilate his neighbour. Whatever your damn kid does after playing a violent game is something I would blame partially on the parent for not teaching him well and partially on the kid for being an idiot.
I am not disputing putting SOME KIND of label on it to indicate what the content is. That was never my issue at all. I was responding to your comment referring to OMG A CONCERNED MOTHER IS CRYING BECAUSE HER KID IS PLAYING MK THEY SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING THAT GAME AT ALL. The mother is just as stupid to think her kid can't play a violent game just because of his age.
Someone who has had a point explained to them TWICE and still totally fails to get it, then insults that person saying THEY are too 'dense to get it' just looks like a ridiculous hypocrite.
I'm the one making the point. There is nothing for ME to get.
YOU are the one replying to me. You are the one who needs to reply to what I'm saying, not what you want me to be saying, not to what the voices in your head are saying and not what someone else once said ages ago.
You question other people's maturity when you are famous for throwing insults and tantrums at people like a kid? (Which you do repeatedly).
We are not having a debate about whether children should be allowed to play violent video games.
We are not having a debate on whether MK 2011 should have a mature label on it or not.
We are not having a debate on what you think a mature rating should be or how useful it is as a label.
We are not having a debate about what age children should start playing MK.
We are not having a debate on whether games should be age rated.
We are not having a debate on good parenting in respect to video game usage.
We are not, in any way, shape or form, asking for the opinions of XxJadexX in regards to any of the above issues.
We are talking about the criteria used by NRS when they make MK 2011.
They won't make it according to what some mother of a kid thinks as Rocket says. They will make it according to the criteria of a 'mature' game as laid down by the industry, regardless of what YOU think about mature ratings.
And if some parent complains about the content of MK 2011, the response of NRS will be - "It's a mature rated game - so it has in it all the stuff listed as being in mature games. If you don't want your kids to see the types of things listed as being in mature rated games, don't buy them mature rated games."
Whether YOU think that's a great or useful response or not, that's the criteria they will use in making the game and that's the response they will give.
The End.
