Mortal Kombat 1 General Discussion Media Thread

My morbid curiosity got the better of me and I just got back from watching the MK2 movie.....In short I'd give a 7.5 out of 10. It's far from MK annihilation bad but I don't get people saying It's the best MK movie ever made. Story wise and without spoilers. It felt like they were trying to cram MK2, UMK3, MKX and 4 into the same movie. It makes the story a bit of a mess but an entertaining mess none the less. At least they tried to get the story back on track even if they fumbled it all over the place IMO. Urban's version of Cage was just ok to me but nothing special. Katana and Jade were good in their respective rolls but without Mileena in the mix it just felt hollow to me. Kano was the biggest standout and stole the show every time he was on screen. I did enjoy Shao Khans look and over the top campy demeanor. My biggest gripe as an old school MK fan is there was too much story to cover and not enough screen time to tell it. That unfortunately led to a lot of characters getting cut and jump edits that felt disjointed from scene to scene. In conclusion I feel the 1995 movie is still the king far as live action MK movies go but MK2 is right behind it and definitely worth checking out if you're still on the fence about seeing it.

Three years later, I think MK1 is a good game, but the weakest out of the four NRS games. I still love MK9-MK11, but MK1 gets boring for me quick. It feels so barebones.

It's the opposite, for me.

MK1 is the game that I keep returning to BECAUSE of the actual gameplay.
Character customization and the single-player stuff.....yeah, I 100% with you that MK11 is better in that aspect.
Personally, I just can't go back to the Krushing Blows, breakaways, auto-regen meter and the general slower pace of the MK11 compared to MK1, regardless of Fujin being my main in that game.
Plus, MK1 the game that so far has my favorite roster with 8 post-MK3 characters like Quan Chi, Tanya, Kenshi, Reiko, Havik, Nitara, Ashrah and Li Mei, and the return of Takeda and Ferra (even if she IS just a kameo).
Would have loved for Sareena to have been playable too, but I'm shocked as it is that we got EIGHT of them in this game, as it is.
Never thought I'd be a Li Mei main, but here I am. :)
