MKX Online Beta Review

i thought it be a good idea for everyone who has the online beta to post their review about it here. I've had the beta for a while now and have a pretty good idea how it compares to the old net code. Keep in mind this is a BETA and things are obviously subject to change as time go on. Also I'm running a wired connection 18mpbs going through a assus router (a rt-ac68r to be more specific ) and I made sure to play the late hours so no ones wifi was bottlenecking the connection. I tested the connection several times and stayed consistent with a 18 mbps signal. Ok now that's out of the way on to my review…….BTW this is the PS4 version for those that want to know

The big question is…..is it better than what we have now? For the most part yes but it's far from perfect. I've noticed choppy frame rates and characters acting very unpredictable at times which is a side effect of roll back net code. Another thing is finding someone who has a ping of less than a 100ms is a pain at times but when you do find someone with a good ping (My advice is never fight someone over 100ms ping or it will lag ) the matches are really smooth as far as inputs go. You can go to the online menu and change the options which is cool if want to see the other players ping instead of bars. I hope they keep this option in the final version!

This is a beta so expect glitches galore and I've had my fair share. One is the sound which is all over the place but I'm sure nrs will iron that one out. Two is dissconnects when this happens the screen slows down to a crawl and makes the game unplayable. I'm happy to say that pulling combos off is so much easier now and for the most part most of my stuff works when I need it to. input lag is greatly reduced but it's still there and I've had combos drop. thankfully it's not as bad as before.

My final verdict is…It's better but NRS has a big mountain to climb. I hope they can iron out the issues I mentioned because if they do than I'll be more the happy to buy the KP2 come March!!

Hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions if I forgot something.

The mkx beta has updated the ps4 with a patch called 1.03 (I hear the xbox one version is finally updated but if I'm wrong let me know) Anyway this update adds all the main chracters minus the dlc cast (no tanya, jason, tremor, or predator yet). There is two more stages added living forest and marketplace. There has also been updated balance and tweaks done to the cast but if you want a more detailed explanation about these changes than check out REOs youtube channel at MK_REO or head over to testyourmight.

My experience with this latest patch has been mostly positive but the beta does seem to be running with more bugs and choopy frame rates. I noticed the connection seems to be less stable than before but it still better than what we have now. I've noticed a lot of rage quitters today as well. I hope the next patch adds online rooms and koth instead of fighting randoms in player mode. Private matches would be nice but I'm not holding my breath. I hope more people who have the beta will contribute to this thread because nrs are watching these threads ( I even got a response from paulo on some issues on testyourmight ) so the more we contribute to making sure the online is running the way it should be the better.

The Living Forest?? Are you sure about that?

Like you, I've had positive and negative experiences. On a solid connection, it honestly comes close to offline. It's even playable on wireless, I've tried it, and it worked well. I'm not using the greatest connection either, about 7mbd/2mb up, but i'm upgrading to fiber optic in about 3 days now, so i'm pretty excited to try the beta after my internet upgrade. That being said, there are still some matches where it feels even worse than the current netcode. After the latest update, I've been getting a LOT more rollback, and I can't even react to my opponents moves. Input delay is worse, and feels overall worse than it did before the new update. I don't know if it's because of the added characters, stages, or what, but they might just be tinkering with the rollback/input delay to find the sweet spot.

I'm glad to hear that they're planning on trying to make it as perfect as possible before they release it, so March 1st really isn't the deadline. That's what they're aiming for, but hopefully if it's not as good as it can be, they'll continue to work on it, so I have faith in NRS. I've had far more good experiences than bad, and again, when you're fighting someone with low ping, it's really f****** solid.

I'm jealous of you guys that gets to play the new beta but on a positive note I enjoy watching all of your videos on youtube.
