i thought it be a good idea for everyone who has the online beta to post their review about it here. I've had the beta for a while now and have a pretty good idea how it compares to the old net code. Keep in mind this is a BETA and things are obviously subject to change as time go on. Also I'm running a wired connection 18mpbs going through a assus router (a rt-ac68r to be more specific ) and I made sure to play the late hours so no ones wifi was bottlenecking the connection. I tested the connection several times and stayed consistent with a 18 mbps signal. Ok now that's out of the way on to my review…….BTW this is the PS4 version for those that want to know
The big question is…..is it better than what we have now? For the most part yes but it's far from perfect. I've noticed choppy frame rates and characters acting very unpredictable at times which is a side effect of roll back net code. Another thing is finding someone who has a ping of less than a 100ms is a pain at times but when you do find someone with a good ping (My advice is never fight someone over 100ms ping or it will lag ) the matches are really smooth as far as inputs go. You can go to the online menu and change the options which is cool if want to see the other players ping instead of bars. I hope they keep this option in the final version!
This is a beta so expect glitches galore and I've had my fair share. One is the sound which is all over the place but I'm sure nrs will iron that one out. Two is dissconnects when this happens the screen slows down to a crawl and makes the game unplayable. I'm happy to say that pulling combos off is so much easier now and for the most part most of my stuff works when I need it to. input lag is greatly reduced but it's still there and I've had combos drop. thankfully it's not as bad as before.
My final verdict is…It's better but NRS has a big mountain to climb. I hope they can iron out the issues I mentioned because if they do than I'll be more the happy to buy the KP2 come March!!
Hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions if I forgot something.
