MKX Fight Pad

Watched review on Gamespot they say it's NOT worth the money and that PS4/One controllers are much better.
It feels and looks cheap, buttons are also very bad...

It's a must have for XB1 IMO. If i had gotten it on my PS4 then I think the standard controller is fine for fighting games. The XB1 controller gives me cramps while playing KI so I got the fight pad which is fantastic.

CONS
It is a bit light and maybe a tad small.
No rumble or headset jack.
Pretty expensive considering it's lacking the above.

PROS
The D-pad & mini arcade style buttons are awesome.
The design and finish is really nice.
Really good length cable.
Also (not that it matters) the packaging is really nice for collectors. lol

I need serious advice or help. I have not played the mortal kombat games since Ultimate MK3, and just recently got hooked again with Mortal Kombat X. My goal is to learn the controls and get good.

So, to make a long story short. I purchased the fight stick and was all prepared, but I do not feel like I am holding the controller correctly. Should I play sitting in a chair with the controller on a table? I am practicing and practicing and seem to just not be able to link combos? Is this lag? Am I too fast? I would love for some advice, because I would like to get more competitive.

I currently play laying in my bed and seem to be using the middle part of my thumb. Should I be using finger tips like a fight pad? Thanks.

P.s I am still getting use to this fight stick. I feel as though the button response and d-pad are not fast enough.

Umm.. so are you talking about fightstick or fightpad? Got a bit confused. And is it MKX fight pad or something else?

If it's about Fightpad, there's 2 common ways people like to use them. Either you hold it like normal Xbox / Playstation controller, or you put it on your lap, while holding it with left hand. Right hand is for hitting buttons. But after all there's no guaranteed style, just pick up the style that feels the most suitable.

And it's hard to say about combos not being linked, but after all it's all about practice, practice and practice. I for instance bought arcade stick to play Street Fighter and it took my 3 months to get comfortable with it, although it was worth the wait.

I apologize, I am new to this. It is the fightpad. It just feels strange I guess. I actually just watched a YouTube of a guy playing and it looks like I just have to get use to it. Because in the video he was doing 33% percent damage combos all day long. ;) thanks for the quick reply. I just need to practice practice practice.

Alright so I was about to buy one today to use for my PC

Luckily they had a open one and I got to test it out

It felt really cheap and light, not worth the $50 imo

the d-pad and buttons were okay though

So I just bought the ps4 controller instead, it feels much better to me
