I would definitely invest in some these if they were released. I'd buy Scorpion, Sub Zero, Human Smoke, Robot Smoke, Sektor, and Cyrax. I'd buy two of both though. One in the case for collectible purposes and the second would be out of the package on display on a shelf or something.

Collectible purpose? If it's for collecting, why not just take it out of the package? Unless you plan on selling it somewhere down the road or prefer to see it in it's box, there's no reason keep it in there. My stuff looks better when on display, not shut up in a box.

*shivers* The thought of ever selling my stuff is painful. How could you do it? What's the point of having it to begin with?
...Then again, MK shit is ridiculously priced right now. Have you seen what the Deception/Monks figure lines are going for? Noob Saibot is 100 bucks on sites like Ebay and Amazon.
So who knows. Maybe a couple years from now your Cyrax or Johnny Cage figure will be somewhere between 50 - 200 bucks.
But still, I wouldn't be able to let go. I'm gonna be buried with my shit.

Yea the prices are crazy. I'm hoping they release some with the new game coming out. Gotta buy them when they first come out or else you'll be paying ALOT on ebay etc. etc. Now that I think about it, I'd keep both sets: 1 still in the packaging and the other on display in some cool pose.
*edit* my MK Armageddon shipped so it should be here within a day or too hopefully. I also got MK vs DC but the only thing I liked about it was Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Damn it, April needs to get here already.
