Lag Is Cause By GAMESPY Servers and Not NRS

Kind of sucks that once I found out and saw "powered by GAMESPY", i knew that the online experience for this game is ruined.
For those who've played UFC 2009 and UFC 2010, knows how crappy GAMESPY servers are. And nothing has changed for this game. You will continue to experience lots of lag due to being that the servers being used are GAMESPY. So it kind of doesn't matter cause for some, they get no lag but for most people, they experience lots of lag. Just like for the UFC game where for me, most of the time I had a good smooth online play but when lag comes, its a really, really laggy online experience. So I think it probably depends on your connection as well as your area. But the main reason why a lof of us will experience lag for online play with this game is cause of GAMESPY's servers.

pretty much this. dont know why ppl say "wait a few days"

gamespy provides UFC games to, and there horrible still aswell. this wont get any better

Exactly. They should know that its not in the hands or NRS and its in the hands of gamespy (for online play). And we all know how gamespy is. If you don't then play ufc 2009, ufc 2010, wwe games and try and play online and see how well that goes. For me I was lucky enough myself to be able to play a decent amount of games on both UFC games but then now, its just laggy as fcuk. And will probably be the same for this game. Unless of course NRS has their own servers. Just like if THQ would've used there own servers for the UFC games instead of using Gamespys crappy ass servers.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

but its NRS problem to fix. Hopefully they will.

As much as netplay does not matter to me, its important for tourney players to stay and keep fresh without getting rusty.

Not sure why you guys are saying GameSpy servers are being used. GameSpy Servers are the holding place for the LOBBIES. This is not a dedicated server setup, where both clients are playing on GameSpy servers. They provide the lobby, then once you connect to opponent, its a peer-to-peer connection.

The lag will not go away until NRS fixes its netcode OR changes to a dedicated server setup, wheter its GameSpy's dedicated servers or NRS, either will work as longs as its dedicated.

So basically it's like COD, Servers handle player stats, the lobbies, then it goes p2p? Even if this is true it seems the login server/stats is having problems regardless...

Does the volume of people playing increase the lag, or just playing against an individual who has a slow connection speed?

A little of both usually, if there are a huge number of people on then sometimes servers begin to bog down, thats what makes it so long to find a ranked match, for online stats to update, etc.
then when your in the match it has to do with the host's connection so if the host connection is poor you will experience lag

Like the dude said ^^^ you connect to the gamespy server as the lobby then you go peer to peer so depends who you are going up against and what their connection is like and yours, lag free online never heard of it but yeah they may be some tweaking that needs to be done to optimise the play but that really is nothing much if you have a bad connection you will always get lag

Exactly. Hopefully NRS will touch up the their new netcode, and GameSpy will improve their lobby so we dont get laggy room joins/match searching.

I am from Germany. The Lag is little bit high on Rooms etc. but the Fights themself are okay, ofc there is lag, there is no Game online which has no lag. But the lag is okay imho, its playable. I like the Online Mode.
