Is Shang Tsung Dead?

In story mode Shang gets transferred into Sindel...in the battle with earth realm people Sindel gets killed by Nightwolf (who is also killed)....so does that mean Shang is also dead since he was transferred into Sindel....and now Shang is also under control of Quan Chi?....hummmm

or might his soul of escaped after sindel's death?
 
It hasn't been officially announced whether he's dead or not. Considering death is such a fluid concept in the Mortal Kombat universe I'm not even sure whether one option of the other would have any serious impact, but I thought Tsung was dead. Sindel wasn't just killed via decapitation or whatnot, she was ripped apart by the spiritual essence of Nightwolf. If you ask me, that's some pretty intense s--t. I don't think he survived the encounter. That doesn't mean his soul was destroyed, but it was prolly wrecked rather badly. I'm willing to bet he'll make another appearance soon, but it really seemed to me like he was killed.
 
Exactly...you hit it right on the point....his soul is prob pretty messed up at this point bc ur right..he wasn't just stabbed or something...he was evaporated by the spirit gods.

And yea..."death" in the MK universe is a opened ended word lol
 
I think he will stay dead for a long time to change the bosses, do you imagine MK10 with 6 bosses? Kintaro, Goro, Kahn, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Shinnock, it wouldnt make sense and would be weird, they killed Tsung and Kahn indefintly and Goro and Kintaro were his soldiers and now that their bosses are dead they wont appear either. So im pretty sure they are both dead and they wont appear any soon, at least they wont in MK10 IMO.

I dunno about Kahn, but I'm betting Shang Tsung will make an appearance in MK10. He may not be a big time heavy-hitter, but I could see him being a side-story. His essence could be sulking in the shadows waiting. One of Shang Tsung's followers could try and restore his power, or take it for him/herself. He probably won't be a major player, but I get the impression his presence will in some way be felt.
 
I think he'll be back. I certainly hope so, whether he fights alongside Quan-Chi and Shinnok, or is part of the group cobbled together to fight against them.

I can see a side swap, Raiden, Cage and Sonya, allying with the outworld bad guys who remain, to defeat Quan-Chi and the enslaved souls of the now dead Earthrealm warriors. Honestly, this game is so solid, I hope they don't change the mechanics much, they just need to improve on what they've set out in 9, add a few characters that'd fit, maybe some entirely new fighters?

I'm looking forward to it for the story progression alone, which is not something I'd usually say about a fighter.
