I think these are the main menu backgrounds

Destructoid confirmed that "menus, interfaces, and even loading screens, will become themed after your faction. So Lin Kuei members may get scenic snowy forests for a main menu, while the Brotherhood of Shadow loading screens will greet you with images of the fire and brimstone Netherrealm."

I believe that these images, shown in the 'Next' video, are our main menus of choice:

Why? Because they all have a noticeable foreground object and a large open space on the opposite side where the list of modes and options would go. I don't know about you, but it seems like an obvious main menu background.

These are all very beautiful, though. I like the White Lotus one the most because it sets the mood for that really dark, yet mystical tone I like for MK. And that little smoking lion statue looks awesome. Too bad I'm not a fan of the faction itself. :)

The Black Dragon stage in particular is interesting to me. It seems like the torture of several captured American soldiers is going on in the background, which is kinda dark, even for MK. Also, the foreground object makes it seem like they switched the yellow Kano variation to a blue-colored one.

It's also worth noting that the Lin Kuei, White Lotus and Brotherhood stages have been confirmed as playable arenas within the game, so it's safe to say the other two will as well. That tank in particular's gotta be used as a stage interactable or fatality, right?

Will the look of a particular main menu influence your faction choice?
 
For sure they look like options menu.

Notice how the farther places are in blur and the left part are always some object focused.

Greyjoy, you always on the bullseye.
 
Nice catch on the blue Kano. Not only is the cyber eye on the table blue, but the three wires coming out of it are red, green and blue. Sure looks like they changed the colors on his variations and the yellow will turn blue.
 
cool i like all these and i like that the black dragon are showcasing the cyber tech :) just a shame about the actual design of the technology it looks very amateurish to me. kanos eye plate looks a bit crap especially the actual eye area and in its yellow and green variation it looks even worse. at first i though his design was still in the development stage but it hasnt improved since and looks like a first draft
 
I think I might have to choose White Lotus. Their background is clearly OP.

Sucks though because I don't plan to main any White Lotus characters, so once the rewards are revealed, I might have to make a difficult decision.
 
Do you guys think that every character will be part of one of these factions, or have rogues? Trying to see where Reptile and Scorpion would fit with these. I don't see any logical situations here.
 
I think the characters are just references of the leaders. It's kinda obvious, but I meant to say they are just there as a reminder, and nothing more.
 
I vowed White Lotus since Factions were announced. Demonstrated my loyalty to White Lotus in the Factions Poll Thread on here.

So many wanted to bandwagon the Lin Kuei. Now, the Main Menu is revealed, and I've been noticing around the net people out the woodwork jumping ship to the Lotus clan.......Doesn't loyalty mean anything anymore? :- P

I posted this thread on every MK fansite I visit. The imgur album has 1000 views. I think I might have single-handedly bumped the White Lotus member count. :)

Single-handed... with the tiniest bit of help from the NRS devs who made the backgrounds. ;)

White Lotus > Lin Kuei > Brotherhood of Shadow > Black Dragon > Special Forces
 
I thought I should join Lin Kuei. Sub-Zero is also one of my favorite characters.

I thought White Lotus was going to be connected to Kung Lao, so I discarded easily.

Since there was no Shirai Ryu, I still was not so comfortable with joining Lin Kuei like that. I like Sub-Zero, but the Lin Kuei is still controversy.

I like BoS, but still, didn't want to fight for them.

I'm considering White Lotus, because of one of my other favorites, Raiden, and I think I should fight for Earth.

When I saw that picture of him there (one day before the video), I started considering.

Special Forces is not the most interesting Earthrealm defense.

And that has nothing with the backgrounds for me. Really do not care, I think all look awesome, but that is just aesthetics. Nobody will be better than the other with any choice IMO. Not on backgrounds.
