How were YOU introduced to MK?

i remember my first encounter with the MK Arcade Cabinet as if it were yesterday.

One night during the summer, we (my family and i) went to a big fair here in Antwerp. As there were a lot of rides, arcade halls and stuff.

In one of thos Arcade halls stood a MK1 cabinet and a few guys were playing at it. Off course i only knew the street fighter game till then.

I went to take a look at the game, and saw one guy playing as Sub-Zero against the CPU. Immediately, the game grabbed me by the throat with the massive goreness and special moves. (when i called my mom to come and have a look, she told me to act normal...as i was getting overexcited)

The game really began to obsess me when the guy pulled off Sub's Spinal Rip fatality... the screams of the victim, the blood...marvelous...

From that moment on, i knew MK and i were made for eachother. Been buying and playing the MK games since then.

I have em all... (only have to live with my mom's comments till death, "aren't u sick of playing those games??" HELL NO !!!)

Well, that was my story....

(oh, and thinking of it, i do not appreciate the fact that the US get's those games earlier than we do... nah... as i live in Europe...)

greetz
Major Weirdo

I remember my first MK experience very well. I was about 8 years old and had just gotten settled into a new town and i got asked to a sleepover birthday party. 2 games were played all night, the NBA JAM championship edition(which is still the best basketball game i have EVER played) and MK 2. we got tired of NBA and popped in MK. we played for hours upon hours into the night, and i remember most my friend trying to play the computer using Shang and tryin to do morphs, not giving a crap about the fights he was in, but when i saw him do the morphs and saw some of the fatalities in the game, i was amazed. I found MK 2 in the arcade myself a few weeks later and I have been hooked for the last decade of blood, gore, and more. This game reminds me of the good times, and as corny as it sounds, will always hold a place in my heart as a door to the past.

My friend showed me MK:4, and MK:DA and I thought MK was so awsome, and played the older MKs to see what they were like, and then I liked MK even more.

I was about 5 or 6, when MKII (i think) came out. Me and my cousin played it at his house, and of course i never got to play it. One day we went to the arcade and my mom loaded me up with change. This little kid wore that machine out, i think i even managed to pull out a fatality, SubZero's i believe.
Good times, good times :)

Havik, nice sig. Do you make requests?

Your mother came over and told me to !@#$ her with the joystick.

I bet.

(i love being the noob in a forum... )

You would win that bet. Just ask her.

Anywho, I was in my teens when MK was first released . . . I played MK I when it came out, but I only started truly playing with the release of MK II.

And yeah, your mom is a ho.

I remember MY introduction to MK. I was at my Grandma's house, and my cousin lives there. Anyways, he was playing this game on his SEGA. I asked him, "What are you playing?" he didn't even look at me while he said "Mortal Kombat, sshhh!" So, I quietly sat down beside him and watched the bloodfest happen right before my eyes. I got up after about 10 minutes, and said, "Can I play?" He once again didn't look up and said, "When I'm done." I wasn't really that interested until about when MK3 came out, when I spent the night at my friends, and I noticed he had MK1 and MK3 for SNES, I said, "AWESOME! You've got that game?" he said "Yeah, wanna play it?" I was quickly hooked. On night he spent the night at MY house and he brought MK4. I played it, and we went outside, in about 5 minutes, I said. "I'm bored let's play Mortal Kombat 4 again!" He said I was addicted and a freak. Hence the alias. In between those three events, I grew up a little more, and favored violence and blood, and playing "M" rated games at your friend's house while your dad doesn't know about it. I wasn't a very outgoing boy back then, so I never played an actual arcade version of an MK arcade game until about 2 years after MK4 had come out. I got pissed because, "The game was set on Medium mode." Well, there it is!

i think i just willed it into my consciousness lol. seriously, i have no recollection of how i came to be acquainted with it, i just know that i was there from day one. i remember playin mk 1 at the arcades, and getting it on Genesis. i can't recall for the life of me ever being introduced to it, it was just there, and so was i. lol.

i have never seen a MK arcade game in NewZealand EVER... and i work in a blimmin arcade. My first was on my SEGA master system way back in the day. My brother and i used to rent it from a local video rental place because i dont think it was actually released fro retail purchase. plus i was but a wee tot with little or no $$

I remember the first time I ever saw Mortal Kombat it was at an Arcade room in one of the malls we have here on Oahu... I saw Scorpion do his harpoon on Kano as he was doing his cannonball attack. Just watching that harpoon hit and Scorpion going "Come here" was the coolest thing. I never dared to touch that game... it just looked too hard to play so I just watched people playing it. I decided to go check my local arcade room in my home town to see if they had it... and they did... I saw one of my cousins playing it... he was pretty good... I think the first fatality I saw was the Kano heart rip. Still I was too afraid to try the game. Then EGM came out with the move list... and I was so there... the quarters just kept flowing into that machine... playing Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sonya all the time... Ever since then I've fell in love with Mortal Kombat... to me it's like the greatest videogame ever... the storyline and everything just engrosses me... MK4life... heh... I even remember the first time I saw MK2... I walked into that same arcade room in the mall and seen a crowd of people around a game... I went over to go look at it... and "What the ^%^# Mortal Kombat 2?" I never even knew about it... even with all the EGM's I used to read... lol

In my case, my neighbor was the one introducing me to MK world. He had own the first MK for SNES, and he called me to go and play with him. We spent weeks playing MK and we both became MK fans... Then He owned MKII, I owned UMK3 and MK4 (PS)... (I got Mythologies, too, but He was not interested in that one), and finally, I got MK:DA for the PS2

My first time with MK!!

Has i remember, the first time i ever played Mortal Kombat 1 was when i was at secondary school and i was 12 year old. At the convenience store in front of my school they had MK1 and Street Fighter 2 and at lunch a lot of people were making line just to play the game. The first fatality i saw was Sub-Zero head rip and i was just blown away... I am really not a big gamer except for Mortal Kombat but since that famous day in 1991 i have fall in love with that game.... and has for myself it will stay the best game of all time. Mortal Kombat forever.... :P 8)

My big bro brought me into it. He made #2 in a state wide tournament for MK1 or 2...or was it 3... i dont remember.
Mabe you have heard of him...
