Hey guys,

You are far more experienced than me when it comes to these things. You have any tips or advice for someone going into his first tournament? Chances are big that i will lose and lose fast but still, what do you advise for me to have a fighting chance? I'll pick Scorpion coz i can do up to 8 hit combos with him and only him.

Thanks!

Well... starting with a character you pretty much understand is a good start, so good on you for that.

REMEMBER:

If you use Scorpion and you miss with his spear, be prepared to get punished. This also applies to his teleport punch.

Use this especially since a lot of people will be using scorpion, no doubt. They throw the spear, block it, and counter with a teleport punch you can cancel into your 8 hit combo.

Turtle them as well. Do your best to control as much of the screen as possible and don't be afraid to jump in when they do and block their kick in mid air. It will give you a throw. Unless I'm wrong. I'm basing all this on old school Scorpion from MK2 and 3.

all good advice, except im pretty sure you cant block an air kick in mid-air.

my advice would be, screw the xray off, use enhanced moves. enhanced hellfire is good right after a combo.

Don't rely on special moves alone. A good fighter can win the entire fight being patient and with the most basic set of moves.
Be assertive and don't underestimate or overestimate yourself for that matter.
Focus on your strengths, what your'e good at, wait for it and then use it, if you use it right away, the opponent will be able to reasd your moves and fighting strategy.
Most importantly, be unpredictable and stay calm. Breeaaaaatttthhhe. :)

its my first tournament as well also the tips are appreciated. I know im just gonna try not to lose! =) Hopefully ill make it a few rounds. Does anyone know what the prizes are gonna be.

Well....I lost in the first round. lol. It was sooooo close, one more punch just one more effing punch or low kick. Anyway, i would of lost in the second round had I won the first because the guy who I would have been up against went on to be one of the final 5 (i think).

But going to this event for 5 bucks, getting three t-shirts, and seeing like 10 matches on the cinema screen was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. I wish i can transfer vids from my shitty phone on to here so you guys can see. It was so amazing.

The guy who won got the TE. The other 4 top guys got a KE each. Not a bad deal at all. Plus there were DVD, t-shirt, xbox live 3month passes and cinema tickets given away to randomly selected ticket holders.

The guy who won was a beast but there were no crazy 15 hit combos or anything.

Two things i saw that will stick in my mind for a long time, one awesome, one not so great:

1. Sektor's Fatality on the big screen. Unbelievable.

2. Smoke's intro is so cheesy and lame, I'm really disappointed :(. His moves are sick though, that's what counts but they really couldn't of made his intro any more cheesier......damn.

Anyway, this event pumped me up for the game like nothing else has so far. GAME OF THE YEAR!
