Mortal Kombat II! But, You can't take nothing away from the first MK. It was great. I remember the first time I saw Raiden's fatality on Mortal Kombat 1. I was blown away!!! :o

What M.K said, but also I will add that MK2 was the most balanced game in terms of characters, gameplay, moves, levels, story, fatalities etc etc. The list goes on, MK2 had it all, imo.

Lets see if MKD will take the crown.
 
I liked Mortal Kombat 1. The Arcade version that is. I remember the summer it came out. I was 15 at the time. I waited in line at the Arcade just to play the game for about 1 hour. It was the Arcade hit for the summer. Midway released a game that set the standards for Video game rating, and set a standard for future software. I think I spent a guess about 1000 hours playing it. MK II and ect... Are all great games. I just have some of the best gaming memories with the first 1 thats all.
 
MK4

My favorite was MK4 because that was when videogames were starting to get better and better and seeing all of my favorite MK characters evolve (getting a 3-d look) was awesome and through this game I saw my favorite character of all time :D yep Reiko. Plus having all characters using weapons...I mean that is a really good concept that started on this game,on the past MK games Kabal, Jade,Shao Kahn and Kitanna were the only ones using weapons. I'd say MK4 is my favorite due to it doing what alot of MK games didnt do and revolutionized MK as we know it.
 
I have to pick MKIII, mostly cause thats when most of my favorite charcters were in it. And I thought it was cool when my brother did an animality on me :)
 
I agree with the majority here, MKII was the best. It was an incredible game for its time, still is. Of the classics, i think MK4 was the worst. Just my opinion. I could never find it in the arcades and I ended up getting it for Playstation. I never really could get into it for some reason.
 
MK2 is and always will be the best. It had a butt load of codes, secrets, two fatalities atleast, the bosses were a challenge, The combo system wasn't in effect so you actually had a fight, the special moves were very well done, it had three great stage fatalities, and the backgrounds were great.
 
mkII.... which is funny how old that game is and for todays standards is child's play graphics but myself and everyone i know loves it... long live the classics!
 
Mortal Kombat 2 will always be the best in my opinion, but I have to say Deception is pretty good so far. I also liked Mortal Kombat 4 even though nobody else seemed to.

uhhh well thats if your not a scrub who doesnt care about gameplay and orgasms over fatalities and other BS.

when it comes to gameplay arcade umk3 takes it. period
