Crowe has repeatedly spoken of his affection for friend Irwin, better known as The Crocodile Hunter to millions of fans. Irwin was tragically killed by a stingray in a marine accident the other week, aged 44. An insider said "It's not about money for Russell - it's about honouring his friend. Steve once told Russell that he wanted him to play him in a movie version of his life."

They sure werent wasting any time getting a movie out about the poor guy. He only died a few weeks ago, and there already thinking up ways to make more money out of him.

Heh, I suppose you could look at it that way. Afterall, money is the driving force in todays society. You either sink or swim without it. Apparently, Steve Irwin and Russell Crowe had been mates for many many years. I never knew that until I read the above article. I wonder if the film will be made accurately in terms of his real life, or if they will alter it slightly? I would say the former, due to his family etc. Otherwise big lawsuits would be the order of the day. But I can't see Crowe doing the wrong thing by the Irwin family. I bet that he also has given Steves family alot of support.

Good onya, Maximus! ;-)

lol...I like the idea that one of steves friends gets to play him in a movie, but its just a little too soon after his death to be talking about stuff like that i think

Agreed, but this movie won't be released until late next year. Or even the year after. And I'm willing to bet that Mimi, his wife would want the real life of the Croc Hunter to be told as truthfully and accurately as possible. But you are right. It's way too soon in my books to even be talking about such a project. It's been barely two weeks.
