Combo damage scaling in MK9

X-ray damage should be set on a per character basis depending on character design and how hard it is to land outside of a combo. Then when combo'd into it should suffer whatever damage scaling they have placed in the combo mechanic. Just saying all X-ray moves should do 20% or whatever makes no sense.
 
I don't think the x-rays will take less than 30%, otherwise they would be useless.
They are meant to be BRUTAL, and so is the damage they deal, both visual and gameplay-wise.
 
X-Rays need to be at around 40-50% to be even close to useful. There would be utterly no point in using them if it were any less than that, because you could get that much with a small combo. X-Rays need to be high-dmg, but launch-punishable on block. I hope there are 100% combos from some X-Rays, so that when your opp's meter is full you have to constantly be on the lookout for it.
 
30% SHOULD BE THE MAX. This isnt Street Fighter.

So? Super moves exist since Fatal Fury if I remember well, and they are meant to inflict A LOT of damage.
It would be silly getting your liver frozen and crushed only to get around 20% damage, aside from saving your super meter for the entire match; I'd be heavily disappointed.

I also have to agree with Mecha... they need to do a good chunk of damage... or no one will ever use them. What would be the point? 1 bar special attacks not only up the damage... but open up much more tricky possibilities which also extend combos for even more damage. No one is going sacrifice all that for what... a 20% X-Ray? That's assuming it even lands!

Needs to be 30-50% depending on the character and if it was used in a combo or not.

lets say Subs x-ray takes 50% of total health... it needs to be scaled down if done in a combo to about 20% or whatever amount depending on the length of the combo
cuz we dont to be dead or killing a guy in a single combo...

In 1:35(ish) of this video, you see Sektor perform his X-Ray. It does 41%

At 1:55 you see him perform a combo, and then do his X-Ray, and the combo does 49%

Very heavy scaling. Which is a shame, because it really does make the X-Rays seem pretty useless.

Thanks for contributing this. And yeah it is a shame, that combo should have at least done 55%. But i wish Sektors X-Ray alone took away 30-35 max and then comboed it would take about 40-45.

thats pretty good cuz with out the scaling that would have done i dont know, like 60%+

now 60%+ in just that little combo, is kinda way too much dnt u think
 
Yeah, 60% would be too much for that short combo, but hopefully much longer combos will be possible (although the scaling will kick in even harder then, obviously).

I still say the use of the X-Ray there was pointless, too. Sure, it beefed up the dmg a bit, but it used all of his meter for such a small payoff.
 
It will be very situational if you want to use the meter for EX moves, Combo Breaker, or X-Ray. It's going to depend on life lead, round, and a bunch of other factors. X-Ray will be great to use in some situations, and probably not the wisest usage of meter in other situations. just how it should be.
