How about give her clothes that is usually her style with her favorite color/s. Even if it's just one thing such as a pair of jeans. If you can, ask people close to her about her size in clothing before buying it. ;-)

HAHAHA you just remind me of a time i went to a store nd some collage chick was playin with one..... Nasty_Freak has a good point you should try that, but only if you didnt get something for her already
 
Oh yeah and I forgot to say good luck, my bad bro. Whats better than going out with your best girl friend? You guys know all about eachother, you were friends, so you can still be friends, but on a more emotional/sexual level, its awesome lol.
