Cannot block Ashra's blade? What am I missing? WTF?

My apologies ahead of time for asking such a newbie question, because it is obvious I am missing something if no one else is talking about this. I just got this game 5 days ago.

Was playing online last night, and the last guy I played with used Ashra, and at the beginning of every round, immediately went to her sword and proceeded to slice me to pieces. I could not block it. Crouch block, stand block. Seemingly, he would just walk right up to me and start carving me up.

What am I missing? How do you defend against this damn crooked sword that is seemingly unblockable?

Thanks for any help.

i know how you feel astrah is a cheep character, raiden is also i would also like to know how to stop their strategy

Well. This is why I am posting on the board. To learn to block better, because it is obviously not a matter of hitting block. I seemed to be blocking fine until I met Ashra and her blade.

Anyone?

If her Sword (Kriss) attack is the one that has both the high and low strikes in it, yes it is a bitch to block... try blocking high, than switching to low asap... see if that works. Or try it vise versa.

also dont depend on blocking so much.... learn to counter with an attack with Side Step. I used to be a blocker but that does no good with someone who is constantly attacking. I used to be afraid of getting hit after trying a combo.... yeah you might get hit once but its worth the sacrifice

A good suggestion. I do a lot more side-stepping than I do blocking. Often times I'll just keep moving and attacking and won't even use block.

I try to keep moving, but unless your fast enough, you still get caught up in their combo's. :x
