I was lookin round my local Gamestation yesterday when I found MK1 for the Megadrive (Genesis) for £1.49 boxed and instruction manual in mint condition! obviously I bought it immediatly. This is a lot cheaper than you would find it on Ebay. My MK collection is growing more and more every day!

Yesterday I went to Eb Games and they sold MK 4 for the PC $5. They say it's been in their shelves for about 6 years and it's mint. I bought it and I wasn't very happy with the graphics. They seem a little to similar to the PS1 version.

I think its because they were released at the same time from memory. :?

I brought my copy for £4 but it wasn't brand new.

I'm only seen it brand new once, £3.99 priced.

Yeah PC MK4 was pretty terrible. But thats because it was made for low sys reqs. I bought it cheap back in the day and used to play it on my P200 laptop with 32megs ram and 2 megs Vram. It played smooth.

There are ways to patch the game though, to put the models from MKG into it so at least the poly count is higher, but it still doesn't look all that great.

Not worth it, the patch isn't offical it seems and the result makes your game glitchy.

MK is about equal to several other games that were released at the time for the PC. Ever heard of FX Fighter? That games has worst graphics, but was more enjoyable... My copy of that game was lost when someone broke into my house... And stole my computer and a bunch of games...

But yeah, for the time, the PC verison was equal to the other 3D fighting games released for the PC.

I bought a Mortal Kombat: 4 from a friend for $5.00. It was definitely not in mint condition, but I was happy with it anyway.

MK4 was much much better then FX Fighter, mainly because it came out 3 years after FX Fighter, and because FX Fighter was going to be the first 3D fighter for SNES using the SuperFX microchip. But that all fell through.

I don't even think FX Fighter had textured polygons...

Properly no texture. Can't recall. It was late out in the UK I know that much.

Hmm... Odd since I read somewhere FX fighter came out in the same year. A different verison? I knew they did release one with a feew new characters in it. Saw it for sale at a computer fair... Wish I had brought it...

Looking a bit it looks like there was something called FX Fighter Turbo released about 2 years before MK4 but that's still a pretty big gap in time for comparing them. That was a period of very fast improvements to graphics.
