The courts have ruled largely in favor of Apple, who claimed that Samsung "slavishly copied" the iPhone - a fact corroborated by a particularly incriminating Samsung design document.

The jury has ruled that many of Samsung devices were infringing on Apple's patents, patents like bounce back, which Apple argued added a perceived value to its phones. The court also ruled that Samsung willfully infringed Apple's patents on a very wide variety of its phones, from the S2 to the Infuse 4G, and more.

Samsung will owe Apple $1,051,855,000 in damages. You read that right. One billion dollars.

While the ruling will certainly prove significant in the short term, an appeal is all but inevitable.

CRAZY!

I've been following this case for a few weeks. It's a frivolous lawsuit and I expect an appeal that will reverse most of this decision against Samsung. The allegations are especially ridiculous coming from a company that has stolen its way to the 'top'. Anyone older than 20 not blinded by the shiny-factor of Apple products will recall Apple's checkered history when it comes to IP.

What next, a lawsuit saying that PC laptops with a clean look infringe on Macbook Pros?

Wow that's retarded, it's like motorella sues every cell phone company that exists for copying the cell phones gimmick.

So what's going to happen for the next generation of samsung phones? I wander if they are going to have to actually back track to avoid these infringements and have to play catch up with the iphone. Sucks cause I've heard great things from the galaxy devices.
