I remember the first thing that drew me to Mortal Kombat in the arcade was the violence but also the fact that it was REAL people I got to control. Pit Fighter may have been first but MK seemed to perfect it.
After MK3, Midway went animated/3D and the rest is history. I thought MK lost something unique when they decided to drop the digitized actors.
Sure it may be cheaper to hire a bunch of animators and spit out a bunch of characters but it lost its charm. Technology has jumped leaps and bounds above from when MK1 first hit the arcades. I would love to see some capable martial arts actors digitized with full motion captured movements in a future MK. This combined with a actual real life arenas and backgrounds could make for a really memorable game. It may be expensive to do but just for the fact that no one does it anymore would make it standout.
Can anyone look at a gif of one of the original ninjas from MK1 and think that one of the animated ones look cooler? Come on now.
