Anyone else like me?

I am a complete storyline buff. I love all things storyline. I think it's the best thing about the series. If you agree, please post. If you don't, explain why.

Holy ****ing shit yes!!!!!

Story is the absolute most important thing to me in Mortal Kombat.
That is why Shujinko is one of my favorites, everything about him is story driven.

His moves, his look and his alternate all come from the story

I agree 100%. I've never really cared so much about the gore and violence of the series. The most appealing factors to me have always been good game play, good story, and cool character designs.

Yeah story is numder 1 for me.....and ive been following the MK storyline for a looooooong time lol it's the best!!!

A story can be nice, but I'm not too big on it. It can get interesting. I just mainly play Mortal Kombat for the gameplay and stuff though.

This is why I face palm myself everytime I hear a CapCom dev (or CapCom supporter) talk about how storyline isn't important in fighting games. That's the most retarded idea ever since, just a fighting game is pretty pointless and can get boring after a while. If you have a very detailed storyline behind it, then there's something that you can replay and really enjoy. Not to mention making grounds for fans and players to come back and keep buying sequels of games.

I love the mk storyline and really enjoyed that mode, having said that I think they can really improve on the presentation. I'm still waiting for a mk that doesn't have cheesy lines and mediocre voice acting. Not saying all of it was bad but there were some scenes that were just stupid. There is no reason MK's story can't be held to the same degree as games like god of war games or gta. They have taken leaps into the right direction though.

I play MK since I was little, but since I didn't know english back then, I loved MK for the ninjas and the fatalities.

I love MK because of the characters (umk3 and back) and their backstory. However the story in MK9 is horrible, everything is so rushed its not even funny. The average MK fan wont care so i can understand that they prioritized other things.

I love the MK storyline, it was what made the characters memorable from 1992 till this day. I loved the MKD and MKA Konquest modes as well. However the story mode of MK 2011 is definitely one of the best for me. Played through once, now playing again :)

MK has the best storyline and no other fighter out there can beat that. I also think that storyline is important in fighting games to solidify it's place as a complete memorable experience for fans.

I See what you're saying about GOW and GTA but those aren't fighting games so you really can't expect a fighting game (who's main point is fighting) to a mainly story driven game like GOW or GTA. Would you play GOW or GTA if it had no storyline what so ever? Prolly not. But people would still play MK if it was lacking in the storyline department.

It's nice to see someone who agrees with me :)

Your kinda missing my point, what I'm saying is if your gonna go all out and make a deep story mode which is around 6 hours long, why can't they just make it without cheesy dialogue and get better voice actors for some of the characters. Just have the same serious presentation of GoW and GTA. Thats honestly all I felt they had to do and it would be so much more enjoyable. NR obviously wanted this to be a story driven game regardless of it being a fighter or not and yes its fun to play even without a story but why not improve on simple things that will make it great instead of just ok.
