A Detail Regarding Liu Kang

Ok so I was rewatching the Cage Family trailer and kept pausing at the statues and noticed something strange about the Liu Kang one: He's wearing what LOOKS like his MK9 alt.

BUT.

Here's something that I think is very minor but could help us out...

He has an armband! :O

Lol i know it seems goofy for me to pick out a minor detail like that, but the smallest details could uncover something HUGE.

Personally I couldn't care if he's in or not but I figured you hardcore Liu Kang enthusiasts would be interested.

Scorpion has his MK9 primary, most likely from the Kratos trailer.

Johnny MAY have a more MK9 looking outfit like the one in his win pose photo.

Kitana and Sonya have altered versions of their MK9 outfits.

Also Liu Kang wasn't wearing that outfit when he fought Shao Kahn in MK9. I doubt that this wasn't deliberate.

However, that's not to say that there haven't been inconsistencies before, I just think this is a pretty odd one to have.

What about you guys?
 
I see where you're coming from but these statues are signifying the events of MK9. The only thing it confirms is that Liu Kang was in MK9.

Anyway here's one without any scribbles to obscure anything. It LOOKS like they inverted the drape because it looks like it's covering his right pectoral. Though I don't understand why they even would but whatever.
Again this could be completely wrong but hey, it's something to discuss.

The point is that Liu Kang's costume has changed for his statue. Would they bother if it was just for his statue? It's an open question.

I think that most of us already figure that he's in the game, but for anyone who doesn't, this is food for thought.

Exactly. As I stated before, I couldn't give two shits whether Liu Kang is in or not. But I wanted to point out the strangely unnecessary addition of an armband to his statue.

The only reason they'd go out of their way to change something like that is if they give him the Kitana/Sonya treatment and give him an altered version of his MK9 costume. But again, why show his alt? If all this was to depict the events of MK9 wouldn't it make more sense for him to have his topless attire for the statue?

Just something to think about.

No.

No its not.

Its his MK9 alternate. Nothing you've "pointed out" is a change from its design. The arm band is on the MK9 model, the "reversed drape" is just the band going from his abdomen across his right shoulder.

Next you're going to say that something must be up because Sektor was up front in the shot but his beard wasnt sculpted on.

That's not Sektor, that's Kano. You can see the lines of his cybernetics. Also, the fact that Sonya is fighting him is a bit of a giveaway. Notice how the others are paired up - JC and Baraka, Liu Kang and Shao Kahn. It's people they fought.

Well first, i meant Sektor, but it actually is Sonya, i got confused by the arm things. (She didnt have those in MK9, Sektor did... Im confused)

Kano is barely visible.


Hold up.

Why is the statue of Sonya her MK X Netherrealm War costume when the rest in that shot are MK9.
 
What seconds are you talking about? The only beared guy is the Elder God, and a little frame of someone fighting Sonya, that should be Kano, but we can't see.

I thought Sonya was Sektor because of the arm gauntlet things. Im stupid.

But to be fair, its weird that the other characters in that shot are wearing their MK9 outfits, but she's in her MK X alt.
