Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

What, are you going to do an all-nighter again?...

Dude. Working nights is all I do at this point. I am based in EU, most of my clients sit in US/JP. So if anything I have to hope I don't miss MK reveal thanks to work and my sleep schedule.

Te each their own.
I thought that we were having what was an interesting discussion about timeline possibilities and theories, and what the new characters (Geras and Kronika, if that's their real name) could be like.

Eh, there's not much to discuss. We've only been given the bare bones of info, and are mostly relying on leaks and our own imagination. That, and NRS's gold rush...heheh

I'm also secretly hoping that the MK Mobile app gets the update that NRS spoke about right before the stream, and we get a small sneak peak into what MK11 could entail.
Not holding my breath for it, but it would be cool.

One of the reasons, why I am not in a rush of making any art right now. I need a definite confirmation, that it is something like this. No matter how likely that seems. But boi if I am right and they bring different timeline versions. My tablet will be on fire.

But on other hand, nothing much to do until reveal, so making assumption is pretty fun. Also now seeing certain things connecting together, makes things a bit more exciting. Especially Kitana and Jade.

I never took arcade endings as canon (unless they are shown to be canon), but I always found certain hints in them.

Jade being taken over by a Goddess that observed events for hundreds of years and claiming that Shao Kahn's death outcome must be changed. And then Kitana MKX ending showing her having a vision of world without Raiden intervention. And at the end, they show corrupted Kitana with Jade reaching to her. Which could mean:

A. She is trying to reach Kitana and warn her somehow, but isn't capable.

B. Jade was the one that gave the vision to Kitana. To show that Raiden's actions were the cause of this.

But if you pull kombatants out from different time periods, don't you create a paradox in itself?
It would be a retcon of sorts.

For example, if Baraka is pulled out right before D'Vorah kills him, wouldn't that essentially create a butterfly effect, as his death at that current period in time probably had to play out the way that it did, in order for certain other events to unfold?

Exactly. If Dark Raiden goes to the past, anything he alters (and without delving into time travel complexity itself, just by going there is already altering) compromises his future. If Scorpion gets out of the past to go to the future, he basically compromises his future self, even though the past cannot be damaged. BUT, if time is an illusion...who knows what kind of play is going on.

I think MK11 will be a game that will explore a wide variety of realities. I won't be surprised if we go into One Being area.

"Raiden" and "Lesser prices".

These are the two things you don't put in the same sentence.

MK9. Most of the Earthrealm defenders dead.
MKX comics. Entire Shirai Ryu, Numerous Shokan warriors.
MKX game. No deaths, cause he wasn't around until the end :D

I disagree. Raiden pays the prices he has to pay and makes the sacrifices that unfortunately must be done, but they are usually inevitable.

MK9 had most heroes die, still, if they kept as they were in UMK3, we do know how that would end. He had to face Liu Kang and submit temporarily to Shao Kahn in order to defeat him. In the end, he got the job done, but sure, there was a high price to be paid.

(Won't quote Comics cause I absolutely ignore that, but I get the point)

And in MKX nobody died, but he became Dark, still, he had to do that in order to save Earthrealm from death. He imprisoned Shinnok, and he could not only beat him once again because he was beaten and tired of his realm travels, and not very rejuvenated from the Jinsei (and probably very mad lol).

Sometimes Raiden is said to be guilty of most bad things, but I think he's the only one capable of doing the sacrifices to maintain Earthrealm's existence. Most results are of war, or unfortunate things that have to happen for a greater good.

I said "lesser prices" tho because I know Dark Raiden cares for nothing and will do *anything* to save Earthrealm, and THIS is the real mad Raiden that is able to screw everything up lol on that I cannot disagree (but still love him anyway :) )

Oh don't take that seriously. :D I said that as a joke. Yeah he got the job done, but it is the same as Bush did with Iraq. Mission accomplished. Everything destroyed. But... but we won?

I just made fun of having "Raiden" with "lesser prices" in one sentence, cause he paid anything, but lesser prices.

Jade could use some character development, but I can't stand Kitana. First thing I'm going to do with Kotal is ram his fist down her throat.

I think that woman in Jade's ending is the bald headed chick in the trailer. It mentions in Jade's ending how things started to shift and change, you could see islands flying and it was generally dark. Which looks like the background from the characters revealed so far. Then she is described watching over mortals and having regal authority, that things need to be changed. Which explains the entire time shtick we have going on.

I'm more concerned about Reptile. Poor thing has been THE punching bag since MK1. At least Baraka got released from his misery...

Oh I am thinking the same thing. Some might say it isn't Kronika cause this one has Hair, but... since when NRS was consistent with the designs?

For all we know, they got an idea for Kronika from Jade ending.

Tell me about it. At least your guy has a chance to be in a game. I am still waiting for my Frost. Who had that one lousy cameo, which in 20 seconds literally just showed everything that happened to her in original timeline. Got her ass kicked and then left as an ice popsickle.

I know it's not happening this game, but a story mode that is about a tournament between all the realms is my dream. Something like they did in DBZ. Have maybe 4 or so kharacters from each realm. Good way to introduce a ton of new characters too since many of the realms havent been fleshed out.

That reason has no merit since we can safely ignore MK9 designs, especially the females. NRS is going a different way.

Kotal is simply that badass. Owning Goro and his daddy is no small feat, even if it's just a comic. I don't see much future in Frost. So far she's too busy eating snow. That character needs a redesign from the ground up, otherwise she's going to be seen as a poor-man's female Sub-Zero.

I can't agree more. She needs a massive redesign. That shit they pulled in MKX, was seriously annoying. Literally dressed her as a Sub-Zero too :D

I kept spamming with different pics to Mortal Komat art community (the one NRS created) just to show that there are many different ways you can use Frost. Ice powers have tons of applications and they haven't even scratched the surface.

So here is a hoping they bring Frost from different timeline, where she actually stands on her own two legs and ACTUALLY wears her OWN outfit.

Speaking of outfits, hopefully they won't make some whack costumes that don't fit the character at all. Kotal in medieval armor looks so, so bad... Just a waste of hard drive space and costume slot.

Dunno man. I think they have some sort of armor fetish. I mean... they gave an armor to Superman...

As someone who's wanted Fujin to be playable again ever since MKA, I can relate.

I like the noncanon costumes. NRS had a bad habit of making alts that look too much like the default. So I fully welcome when they go insane.

Mk11 being about timelines I hope we get some truly ridiculous shit like cyber Scorpion and Movie Star Liu Kang

Amen to that. If that was case, then MK11 would have a chance to be the best version, even if story sucked.

Well they would have to voice additional lines. But to be honest, they could make a bank with that. If they sold these costumes for 5-10 bucks with new interactions, they would be swimming in the money.
