The most important part nobody ( including NRS ) talks about - the NETCODE

It doesn't matter if u have the best internet in the world, crap net code=crap gameplay

Sure, but MKX isn't using garbage Gamespy servers.
Gamespy servers went down a while back, hence why MK9 is now on a better server.
Injustice was also on a better server than MK9, and I'm pretty sure that MKX will also be on the same Injustice server or better.
I have my PS3 and PS4 connected via Cat5, and have awesome high speed internet service, and the difference in MK9 is quite noticeable.
I have no worries when it comes to MKX online, as it seems like it will be great.

Why would MKX take 2 steps backwards by being on the same online level as when MK9 debuted???

Better? After gamespy shutdown things got worse. The chat feature stopped working and connecting to matching became even harder. I am so worried about MKX... All this talk about factions and stuff sounds really cool but if the online sucks then it'll all be pointless

Yes, better.
It was a bit shaky when they first moved the servers over from Gamespy, but the connection for MK9 online is much better than it was on the original Gamespy servers.
Anyways, if the improvement with online servers in Injustice are anything to go by, then I'm 100% confident with MKX online.
I have no worries, at all.

Nope I did 12 and 13 still worked fine for me...oh I see what you're saying..it must be something about those extra two hits!!!

"Hereeeee's JOHNNY!!!!"

The new Gamespy servers might have been good, but the online for the PC version through Steam was a piece of shit. And I don't really think they ever improved it at all.

Anyone else able to express an opinion about the current state of the online code in the PC version? Haven't played in ages myself.

I remember in an interview last year, Ed said that they worked on the netcode to make it better, also said online playability will be more stable, we can only hope because games like Tekken Tag 2, Guilty Gear Xrd & DOA 5 LR were all really well done, of course there's always lag or some delay, but check GGxrd even with 10 delay it was more then playable, 5 delay feels like you were playing offline thats how good it was, lets hope MKX is going to be alright!

Hello all! First time posting!

The interview you are referring to is probably this:
http://mk-x.org/2014/10/13/bgs14-boon-interview-fatalities-netcode-etc/

At the 3:30 mark, Ed addresses the netcode. Basically, MKX should be good to go no worries guys!

Was MK9's online horrible later on in its life cycle or since day 1? From what I remember, I was easily able to play with my friends with little to no problem, but that was like.. the first 3 months or so. I kept playing offline while they moved on to other games

I already told myself I'm getting this game used. If they can't fix the net code then they don't deserve my money

This is what is wrong with today's gaming generation. Online isn't the game itself, its a plus. Batman Arkham Knight has no online multiplayer, and it is the most anticipated game of 2015.

I'm simply voting with my wallet. What is wrong with that? I'm a multiplayer guy so I buy games for the multiplayer. I consider MKX to be a multiplayer based game. So the story mode is a plus for me.

Multiplayer wise, they did nothing but give us the same things we've been getting for the past two NRS games. The same three online modes (Basically two. KOTH and Survivor are one in the same.), no multiplayer tag, mediocre netcode, no online TYL ( I'm baffled by that decision). Yeah there's Team Faction Battle, but they decided to make it 1v1 five times rather than a true 5v5.

I'm not saying MKX will be a bad game. I'm saying the online portion will be mediocre at best because of the lack of content. Sounds like NRS is just lazy and refuses to improve the multiplayer, which is why im buying this game used.

How do you know shit about MKX online when you haven't played it yet?
