SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I haven't read the comic, only the text spoilers. But...
Spoiler:
Did they just completely ignore Kotal being named Kahn?

Is it a coincidence that Shao Kahn invaded a realm that had never heard of him, and the son of the ruling king was also named Kahn? Is NRS low on name ideas or was it just empty hype to get us speculating on the name thing?

And if Kotal named himself Kahn only after he returned to Outworld because he wants the throne, wouldn't Mileena also be calling herself Mileena Kahn these days?
Kahn is a title, not a name. The Mongolians used a similar title: Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan...

This site once lost advertising revenue over forum behavior FAR tamer than piracy, just so you know the consequences.

I'm curious. What kind of behavior?

- It seems like Kotal isn't hostile to Shao Kahn at all. His own people were defined by Kotal as warriors and conquerors, so he won't feel like a victim or a poor little good guy since they did the same thing themselves while they could.
When their kingdom fell, all we saw from Kotal was that he felt embarassed that his father surrendered. But he never said anything against Shao Kahn and by the look of things he respected him as a mighty conqueror figure. Most importantly, once they surrendered Shao Kahn accepted it and lept them keep their crown and autonomy and even their magic stone thing, so there was no extermination or anything.
During all the time he was by himself and in his returns to Outworld, he was always going about his amazon tribe and his father, he showed no intent of revenge to Shao Kahn. Furthermore, in his speech in Outworld he clearly says usurper Mileena drove Outworld to the brink of disaster, which shows he respects the might of Outworld under Shao Kahn and Milleena was ruining that legacy. There's also the matter of him taking the Kahn name as a sign of being a successor and a continuity.
That's very interesting. Never saw it that way.

- Loved the little detail of Reiko starting to say "my plan" and fixing it to "our plan" when talking to Mileena. It shows he keeps his good'old personal ambitions hidden under the General role, just as he did in the old timeline.\.
Or it could just mean he did bring up the plan to her, but he had to pretend it was Mileena's plan because of her ego.

If Kotal Kahn has been around so long then where he was in the original timeline? How come he didn't show up in the past? Characters like Cassie not existing in the original timeline is understandable since Sonya and Johnny Cage never got together in the original timeline.

Well he only took the spotlight after Shao Kahn died and he decided he'd run for the throne of Outworld. That's how he "became famous".
In the original timeline he could have been relaxing in his father's kingdom (or the corresponding part of Outworld after merge), or in the amazon jungle meditating on what to do, or even using the stone to travel realms. For beings that live for so long the period between the Spanish conquistadores and MK1 isn't that long.
There was no reason for him to be relevant in the events of Mortal Kombat, he wasn't defending Earthrealm and he wasn't representing Shao Kahn in the tournament.
Since in this timeline he took over Outworld during major wars, he became relevant.

We don't follow the lives of everyone in the MKverse, only those related to the plot.

Oh, i realize now, if Mileena adopted her father's appearance it's obvious she would also adopt his fighting style...
So, maybe one of Mileena's variations could be hammer based, or those shao's shadow moves.... That'would be so cool, Kitana being herself and jade, while Mileena could be herself and shao.... An amazing way to recycle spots and still give us fan favorites who couldn't reach a slot in the roster....

That makes us wanna find out how "bad" did Mileena reigned Outworld for the past 15 years before Kotal usurped her after 10 years of fighting in the Outworld Civil War for the throne?

Everyone moved to the capital to stare at her underboob all day, nothing got done and the economy collapsed.

Hah! I wouldn't mind seeing that. She can wear a helmet similar to Kahn's in that variation, more proportionate to her size and more feminine.

We must consider that with Shao Kahn's demise, Outworld was in a very different condition than in the past.

Even after his MK3 defeat, on the unchanged timeline, he kept Outworld strong.

Now, it was handed to Mileena. I have no doubts she is not a leader and not a konqueror. She is just an abomination.

Mileena wasn't born to lead, first of all, she should not even being born, and second, she was born ONLY to kill.

Kotal is a leader since he was born. He has chosen the path to lead.

He didn't appear before because Shao Kahn was supreme. We don't even know if he wasn't massacred.

Matters little. Now he is there and, even though Shao Kahn kept the realm under order, he did into an absolutist way.

Time to change!

Mileena didn't rule for 15 years, the present day scenes in this comic are 15 years after MK9 like the others. At most, she was unchallenged for 5 years.

Mileena looks bad as f***. The way her pants is complimenting them hips.....

All I'd have to do is throw a paper bag over her head, then I'd go to work on her.

Finished the comic.

As I expected: Kotal is brutal, a warrior, but he vows to protect people. He does not want to conquer, he wants to preserve.

Inspired by the fate of his people, he wants to live in community. and inspired by his father's actions, he doesn't want to slay the weak.

At the same time, he knows that every threat is a threat.

Shao Kahn is a maniac genocidal. Nothing can erase his cruelty and Goro's.

But VonKrupt's analisys is good. Shao Kahn, wrong or not, conquered them. And Kotal felt shame of his father, shame for handling the realm -and the helm- to a strange conqueror: just like the spaniards.

I don't think he has Shao Kahn as an idol or something negative. I think he considers the former Emperor as a learning.

And now, as a son of Outworld, he wants to protect the weak from Mileena and her allies. And I doubt he will be a conqueror, because I don't think he will condemn others the same fate he has suffered. Specially Earthrealm, his second home.

Just read the comics and damn. I drew Mileena two weeks ago in similar fashion while speculating how she will look(well at least the way her body was covered, but not the style). That is just awesome. I might start liking Mileena.
